    Gaga took a nap during the Chromatica era outside of the VMAs but I'm honestly laughing at anyone who is saying a single song on Hard Candy clears Chromatica or has more artistry.

    The production on Hard Candy is absolutely insane. It's so layered and crisp and just sounds like money. It sounds like one of the most expensive album ever to me. It probably was up there, as her last album with Warner, post-Confessions, and with Timbaland and Pharrell probs at their most expensive as producers. The budget was absurdly high I imagine. The "4 Minutes" video looked expensive as hell too, they built a ton of sets with lots of CGI (when CGI wasn't cheap).

    Oh wow, kinda close. Hard Candy loses steam in the second half, whereas Chromatica gets better.

    Hard Candy was good and cohesive and mostly unserious and had bops. Chromatica was a phoned-in contractual obligation by a checked-out popstar who literally sounded bored on the album.

    they're both well bellow average for both of them. Miles Away and Devil keeps it higher for me.

    Chromatica, but that's not really saying much

    The album covers alone :dies: Most of the electropop albums from the mid-late 2000s aged horribly and Hard Pass is no exception. And it was bad to begin with, truly baffling she followed American Life and Confessions with a phoned in attempt at chasing trends.

     

    Chromatica is safe but it has better lyrics, melodies and production and it's not even close.

    Sour Candy, Replay and Babylon (Haus Labs Version) are great though, I'll give Ms. Germanotta that.
