This and All The Love should've been the direction of the album, if she REALLY had to run back to Dr. Luke. This kind of softer but still radio pop is really giving TD/Prism in a slightly more mature version; not the ungodly mix of watered down dance and awful trap beats. Add a Crush or two for a fun upbeat pop moment.

 

Although, yet again, why were they allergic to bridges and final choruses? So many songs go nowhere because of it.

Katy's not really been known for being at the forefront of production & sound trends. She's always either smack bang in the trend, or just getting around to it. Her music defined pop in the 2010's only by virtue of scoring such massive hits on hits.

 

Even something like Dark Horse came at the tail end of trap, from my memory? The way she works sound isn't really pushing boundaries, it's always been editing it to its most digestible, radio friendly form. She hasn't been "edgy" since OOTB. 

 

I'll say, at the very least, her albums are distinct. One of her peers has been serving the same song for like 3 albums now - and she's the biggest star on the planet with hardly the same (and arguably more warranted) sonic critiques from all these publications. A lot of the public pile on is for clicks & is shaping how the era is received online.
 

If the music was exactly the same but the headlines & reviews weren't, most would be singing a less harsh tune.

Releasing a quick lil deluxe edition will boost her streaming numbers and hopefully secure a higher Billboard 200 debut 

I feel that Katy can recover, even if it's in "underground pop spaces" with a good introspective record but she needs to take less time for it   4 years is not it.
 

But sadly..........Katy is so out of touch and narcissistic lately that she'll likely release an acoustic and pop-rock album next and it will be half produced / produced again by Dr. Luke.  If Katy doesn't distance herself from him, her music career will be in the grave forever

Totally. This is the first time I hear this track, I suppose it's a bonus track. Honestly it's the best song I've heard from the album and I listened to the whole standard record. I love the guitar at the end. Much more interesting and mature. Too bad this wasn't the direction.

Woman's World is probably the best song and most related to Katy Perry as a act and the fact Katy fans are ignoring this fact, means her fanbase is so out of touch of who she really is as a pop artist.

That's the album she should've released now (minus the Luke part), instead of trying to appeal as a Gen-zified gay icon 

I think the main problem is that she decided to focus on being a gay icon and *****, which is something that needs to happen organically otherwise it backfires pretty quick.

She was never a cunty gay icon, her success came because of generic pop songs that had massive appeal especially with boring soccer moms. Her brand was 'Roar'.

Exactly. It's so unfair the disrespect she constantly receives, especially from industry people that should know she doesn't deserve this treatment.

I don't think after the 143 experience you have to worry about her working with dr luke ever again
