I'm by no means a Katy stan and I have yet to listen to the album but the hate is so excessive and I wonder how Katy's gotten herself in this position really.

The numbers are totally expected. Very inline with Smile and she's in a much worse position now than back then  

 

She needs to term with the fact that her commercial career is over and give us that "arts not the charts" album

She really should've just covered Heart to Break if she wanted to go the Kim Petras inspired route, but at least this means she'll never work with Dr Luke again

Saddest part about this era is that most of her decisions were made because she thought people are miss her from 2010 that's why she came back to long dark hair and dance music. Her older songs were trending people were saying "we failed her" etc etc. 

So less than Smile, I thought it was possible to do a little bit more since it's doing a little better than Smile on AM

I think this album is controversial and the fact that the album material wasn't good enough to put that to rest seems to be the problem here.

I get this, but the problem is many actually do negate her contribution to pop and entertainment. They act like she's the last baddest singer on earth, when we all know she deserves to be considered an iconic artist whose mark in pop music is clear and undeniable. This is what I call disrespect! 

Whatever, at leas 40k is the minimum for her, I don't think it's possible to do less than that

Paula is largely forgotten, like this new generation maybe knows one song from her. While Katy still has many classic hits that are being celebrated these days

 

For Cyndi, her 5th album (released 13 years after her debut) only managed to chart at #188. Katy has never tanked that hard

Didn't Orlando's son Flynn say his favorite/her best song from the album was All The Love?

 

At this point he could be better managing her career than that mindless A&R based on that statement alone

Ironically, the album is receiving acclaim from music fan in my country  Almost every post about the album has positive comments. People truly love basic pop tunes here lol

yes! this is the one. I had found it earlier but it had an ugly trademark and a much lower quality so i'll be using this one, thanks.

On my second complete play through, before I start listening to tracks individually. Album is hitting just as hard. I like "GIMME GIMME" better this time around and after her performance of it last night.

99% of the reactions to this album/era have been overblown but there's nothing we can do about it. 

 

People do have the right to criticize her decisions, even as fans we shouldn't always blindly 100% support every single things our fav's do. However it has gotten past a point of actual criticism, even just the "stan wars" type of things to pure hatred and vitriol. 

 

People will move on eventually. We just have to take it for what it is for now.
