I am hoping for a 1970s folk-rock sound.  
 

Taylor swift is fundamentally a storyteller so the genre needs to be one that can be conducive for storytelling.

She needs to do something rock leaning. Pop/rock with some alternative and classic rock influences. If she keeps sticking with her electro pop music people will lose interest. The one time she changed her sound in 10 years and it’s basically a detour before going back to watered down pop. Unfortunately with Midnights being as massive as it was she’ll probably stick with more of the same despite people agreeing that the album didn’t age well and was regressive for her.

Personally I want a true return to country even tho that won’t happen because it would be more off putting to her current fan base than sticking with the pseudo 80s antonoff elevator pop.

If is going to be a folklore type of album I want dream pop. 

If it is pop then alternative pop rock

Honestly, I would love for her to finally take a huge risk. Give us an Erotica or American Life.
