    No she’s a Black woman

Harry Styles got AOTY (with his blandest and most derivative record) before Janet Jackson, Prince, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Tyler The Creator, Janell

No.

Neither midnights but a third album with less success.

I don’t think it will honestly.. It’ll probably go to Midnights (not saying it would be my pick but yeah)

Honey no way. 'SOS' doesn't serve Grammy appeal by a landslide. Plus that album has like 200 people credited in total. The Grammys don't give AOTY to albums like this. Watch it go to some random indie album or a sketchy artist like Beck or Jon Batiste this year.

Midnights is never in a billion years winning Album of the Year. Taylor doesn't deserve a fourth AOTY before Beyoncé even earns her first one. Let's keep it real now.

I agree but i just think it might happen

I really see it as a possibility but judging based on the Grammys voting history I really wouldn’t be surprised or upset if Midnights wins.

So far this year I think a random third party will win like in 2022.  However, there are still 4 months left in the eligibility period so maybe things will change.

I didn't know it had 200 people, that's impressive to be able to get that many people to put together a cohesive record.   Does the grammy make it public knowledge that +10 producers/contributors will result in just a nomination? I think working solo and collaborating are both impressive so it would be a little stale on the grammy's part to exclude collaborative efforts.

Merci :celestial:

Harry Styles got AOTY (with his blandest and most derivative record) before Janet Jackson, Prince, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Tyler The Creator, Janelle Monaé, and FKA Twigs. The Grammys couldn't care less about optics, they just do whatever the hell they want (nearly always in favour of the status quo - white, safe, and 'palatable')

At this stage, the Recording Academy is more likely to give their highest honour of the night to Morgan Wallen than to give SZA her flowers. :rip:

I wouldn't count out a fourth Taylor AOTY either.

Hopefully she would block Queen of Cash Grabbing. But I think Olivia would snatch it possibly.

Based on the precedent set by the Recording Academy, yes she should win. It's the perfect combination of critical acclaim (90 on MC), commercial success (10 weeks at #1, Kill Bill being a monster smash too), and it is written entirely by SZA herself (barring the features/samples).

We know the Grammys have different rules for Black women so I doubt they'll give SZA her overdue flowers, but she absolutely deserves it more than anyone.

I was certain last year that Renaissance would take it and look what happened...

But she certainly should get it.

No, and I can't see Midnights winning either. Maybe it is finally time for them to give Lana a Grammy. She has everything on her side: beautiful music, short credits, and critical acclaim. :clap3:

I can see Lana getting nominations in SOTY and Pop Vocal Album this year, possibly winning the latter.

I would love to see it, but a look at the Grammy’s treatment of black women in this category would say no.

She absolutely should but I fear she won't unfortunately

Lana definitely isn't winning a pop award ever. Pop Vocal Album always goes to the best-seller of the year. Just look at the recipiants. It's going to Taylor or Olivia for sure. SOTY nom might be possible for AW

No, sadly it will be forgotten by the committee by then. Midnights would be the front runner but I don’t think they’ll give it to her a fourth time, so it’s probably another year where a critically acclaimed niche album will win

No, but maybe if the album had a few more hit singles then it would be up for the debate. I do think SZA is a serious contender given the fact that we haven’t had a lot of AOTY worthy albums released within the current illegibility period.
