The new record never quite touches such greeting-card levels of sentiment

On the evidence of -, Sheeran’s deepest, darkest thoughts don’t make for great or even simply good songs, but he believes in his business-friendly platitudes with his whole heart.

Ed Sheeran has bragged that he wrote seven of his new album’s songs in a combined two and a half hours. It’s easy to believe him.

He's such an easy target for them, it's so blatant. Miley's latest snoozefest of an album can get a 6.2 and Chloe's faceless debut can get a 6.1, but this can't even get a 4?

right :rip: their hatred for him is so dumb and actually comes across as bullying.

Pitchfork and Ed Sheeran both deserve a 0.9 neither have absolutely any credibility, talent or artistry to speak of whatsoever.

I hate to agree but it’s true. Neither of those projects deserved scores that high.

Not to say I disagree with them panning this, it is just such a weak attempt at what he wanted to do and looks even worse when compared to folklore/evermore. But still think there’s no universe in which this deserves a 3.8, even if for no other reason than comparing it to the many other albums they give undeservingly high (even if they’re not that high, still too high) scores. They’re very predictable, and those stale drags they love to insert for viral points are stan twitter level at best :deadbanana:

Not saying Ed deserves praise but Pitchfork's hate boner for him is so blatant that these "skull-drag" reviews come off dull and tryhard

This is ridiculous :rip: the album is actually pretty good. Deserves something between 6.5-7.0 imo.

the album isn't even that bad for them to be that mad, the review is too brutal 💀 good thing it's still has 73 metacritic score from 11 critics as of writing...

They do too much on him and I'm not even a fan.

is this worth a listen :ducky: I feel like his recent projects are so watered down
