Chlöe & Timbaland - 'Resurrection'
Finally getting to it and Better Than She Can is incredible. I love that she's exploring and settling her identity as an artist while continuing to evolve. And credit to Timbaland, just makes me wish Missy would do another Cookbook with him or something next.

Why did Gaga fail where Beyonce and Madonna succeeded?
Because they weren't nepo babies with all the sweet Trattoria money to buy them through expensive art school. Madonna went to the school of hard knocks, and had to dance as people shot at her feet in the dangerous streets of manhattan. Beyonce literally has been Beyonce her whole life, Destiny's Child was formed before their birth certificates were signed and left the hospital they were born in. Gaga went to art school and came up with a character. Shes tried a lot of different characters, and she's currently doing a better Liza Minelli impression than Liza herself. She's a character actress that transcends genres and mediums, but she is always playing a character and that's her primary talent (of many). Madonna and Beyonce are full time musical legends, nobody will ever take their acting seriously because they cannot play any other character but themselves, which is why they are better recording artists. That said, even Madonna and Beyoncé's most tragic movie scenes are miles better than Joe Calderone. Thank god she got better at it. You can't do a game changing house album and also be the person who did Joe Calderone, sorry you can only pick one Also if you're going to talk about genre forward house albums we need to acknowledge Lion Babe's 'House of Lion Babe'. It's better than all of them.

Better use of $20m - This Is Me Now vs Taylor's Wedding?
$20 million, that is how much Jennifer Lopez' "This Is Me Now (a Love Story)" cost to make, the same amount as Taylor Swifts recent Madison Square Garden wedding. What do you think was a better use of $20 million? I think personally that $20 million is a bit too much for a wedding and that real love tends to be more romantic when it's focused on the two people getting married rather than turning it into a spectacle, it's giving Connecticut sweet 16 with ponies. None of it is tax deductible because it's not a business expense, no matter how commercialised it is. That said it is bold, a little Veruca Salt coded, and a genius way to get attention. Ms Lopez on the other hand self-funded the movie based on her creative vision, sold the rights to Amazon, can continue to make revenue from it, and write off the losses, which were not insignificant. She rebranded herself, delivered her most cohesive era yet, and achieved something big as an artist by funding her own vision in a way others haven't. Unlike Taylor's wedding, This is me now was a #1 hit on Amazon, effectively catapulting Katy into space, while Taylor's wedding was quite literally nowhere to be seen on those very same charts. Money is no object for either of them, but I feel it seems like one of these two "projects" screams self actualised and confident while another feels like somebody losing complete touch with the line between business and love. What do you think?

Alok, Jennifer Lopez - "Everything's Fine"
Loving this and so here for her continuing to put out music. She has the wisdom to just keep going and it's what has allowed her such sustained and consistent success. I think a lot of the hate she and Mariah get has a lot to do with them being successful biracial women with wealth, power, looks, talent so all that's left to attack is them being "divas" which imo is a covert cowardly way of invalidating their aforementioned qualities because it makes them uncomfortable to see them thriving. Both of them have been treated like flops but even their flop moments got significant cultural attention anyway, like Glitter and This Is Me Now are both kind of iconic flops in pop culture, like Bionic, and therefore destined to become cult classics. Lbr we know why she isn't doing music videos after the response to her Amazon Prime visual album, which got more negative press than Melania's propaganda film, says it all really. People even mocked her for supposedly not making a profit and it's like she doesn't need to, she can afford to do a project like that and it's nice to see a wealthy person just invest in art like that instead of going to the damn moon.

Are old gays destined to die alone?
This website is full of closet gaycels who literally have no idea how real life works. Circuit parties are a specific scene and they don't represent all gay people at all. People in happy long term monogamous relationships are usually not on that scene or they leave it once they are in a stable relationship. Gay men on average do take a bit longer to mature due to being male and also because homophobia limits earlier developmental Experiences of dating and romantic interaction. But they do get there and some don't. Make some gay friends in real life and you'll realise that the subcultures that are the more visible online are usually just the tip of the iceberg of broader queer diaspora. I have no interest in circuit parties or gay cruises but it's just as a valid a lifestyle choice as anything else. There are also people in long term stable relationships, both monogamous and non monogamous that participate in Circuit parties, Just like there are people who spend their time obsessively fixating over chart positions online.

Chlöe & Timbaland - 'Resurrection'
You're right, you don't know how to put it, because there's sth so cliche about how you did put it that makes you immediately uncool. I'm so here for Chloe and was wondering what she'd been up to, RnB girlies always get a really hard time online so I am glad she keeps going and plays the long game.

Which celebrity death would affect you the most?
Britney. And tbh people saying otherwise aren't gonna know what will hit them. Whether you're a fan or not almost everyone was invested heavily in her in some way at some point and there's a sense of collective culpability with what already happened to her (she's still accountable for her behaviour, I mean the way the media and public have treated her). I think losing any of the artists we love on here would have a profound impact but Britney's artistry, music and life story are all deeply intertwined in a way that adds complexity. I see it as more a Kurt Cobain/Amy Winehouse/Marilyn Monroe/Nicki's career after 2019 kind of death. Another example is Madonna or Kylie (tm the other can rest in lip kits for all I care) but I feel they have both had such incredible success past the age of 50 that there's at least a sense that their dreams did come true and those deaths tend to be the ones where you celebrate a legacy rather than mourn the tragedy. Madonna's near death experience recently I think had helped people be less **** and ageist to her finally. That said I want all of them to live long happy lives until they are at least 80-90, and I want that for all of your on ATRL too even though with the ages you're pushing, that isn't too far away I fear.

Swiftie accidentally confirms that Taylor indeed demanded credits from Olivia
I mean I really don't care but when we say "demanded credits" it made me think how Stans literally think artists are hanging with each other in the studio and discussing business and credits directly when it's almost certainly parent companies, business managers and agents interacting to do the business side after they had their studio time and a lowkey staged fake social hang, and their people are just gonna do what is best for them which is advocate for their client who they get a percentage from. I am not a Taylor fan but it's not like she was registering herself as the writer of Ave Maria and even then we know Beyonce did not personally do that.

I wanted to kill mysel today
All I can say is good on you for having the strength to not go through with it, you should be proud of that. To go to dark places and still choose life is powerful. Just remember if you had the strength to choose life this time you can absolutely do it again and again and every time it will get a little less difficult - don't give up, you've got this. If you can witness that strength in yourself, just know that you can get through anything. That said, life is indiscriminate and brutal, and your suffering is totally valid, just make sure you hold on to life. I really like this scene from Desperate Housewives, just know that you are both Bree and Renee - and that part of you that is like Renee is the part that got you through safely this time, and the part of you that is like Bree needs love and care.

I'm a Slave 4 U or Naughty Girl
Slave 4 U is gonna clear and it's my fave, but Naughty Girl is a classic and both songs make me feel like a ho as soon as I hear the opening beat. Naughty Girl is my favourite single from her first album, next to Crazy In Love.

Michael Jackson desperately wanted to play Willy Wonka in 2005, why?
Disgraced pdf Michael sure cared a lot, Michael had grand aspirations to become a famous actor and failed spectacularly at it, and despite his wealth, connections and power, he likely looked on at Madonna and JLo's acting careers and seethed in envy because he couldn't even play Jar Jar Binks let alone pull off a Gigli/Swept Away/Crossroads. Also I care. Because for him to have the ******* audacity to try and play Willy Wonka at that exact point in history with yet another molestation trial brewing is pretty noteworthy and I only learned about it today.

Chris Brown has received a PhD
Wow, kids never give up on your dreams. He was expelled from the court mandated anger management course after assaulting a woman, was kicked out of rehab for throwing a rock at a car, and now he has an honorary PhD. Chris Brown has been sent back to rehab. Less than a week after being expelled from an anger management centre in Malibu, the singer has been ordered by a court to seek immediate treatment at a three-month residential programme. In addition to counselling at a court-approved facility, Brown has agreed to submit to regular drug tests. He will be permitted to leave the rehab centre only three times a week, contributing day-long shifts toward his 1,000-hour community labour sentence. In an agreement between prosecutors, Brown's lawyer and Los Angeles County superior court judge James Brandlin, the singer was also given permission to fly to Washington DC for an assault hearing next Monday. It also emerged at yesterday's hearing that rather than voluntarily leaving his last rehabilitation programme, Brown was actually ejected in mid-November. After just over a week at the facility, Brown became violent during a family counselling session, the LA Times revealed: he left a meeting with his mother and threw a rock through her car window. Although the window shattered, no one was hurt. At the time, Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, said his client had simply decided to pursue outpatient therapy. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/nov/21/chris-brown-ordered-back-rehab

Michael Jackson desperately wanted to play Willy Wonka in 2005, why?
Did you know that Michael Jackson desperately campaigned to get the lead role in the Willy Wonka remake in 2005? TLDR: He sent them a whole soundtrack he recorded for it and they shipped it back because they felt it was a bit on the nose having Jackson in an kids movie and instead offered to pay for the soundtrack and give him a cameo, he refused. What do you think of this? How would it have gone if he got the role and his second molestation trial (others were settled out of court) was taking place? Longer version: He wanted it so badly that he recorded a soundtrack for the movie as part of his pitch for the role, at his own expense, despite not being in consideration for the role at all. It seemed a bit odd given the fact he was an accused PDF who had settled out of court multiple times, continued to share his bed with his special friends (always boys) and admitted that publicly in the 2003 documentary. That admission led to an investigation by the state and Michael had even been arrested in 2003 while filming a music video for his ironically titled single "One More Chance". Clearly Michael's career had collapsed and needed more than just a facelift, it needed complete reconstructive surgery, but there wasn't much left to work with. I always wondered - if he was innocent (which he wasn't), why he didn't he just stop sleeping with little boys, stop focusing all his creative output on defending his conduct with children (Scream, HIStory, Ghosts) and actually just focus on his craft? The studio did not think it appropriate for Michael to star in a kids movie. They obviously decided to go with another actor, Johnny Depp, but wanted to use Michael's soundtrack and offer him a cameo (similar to Men in Black 2) - he refused. The 2005 trial took place soon after. Jackson pulled numerous media stunts to influence the case including inviting fans who showed up outside the court back to a party at Neverland where children would be present, which was a golden ticket for his PDF fans. Why was Michael so desperate to play Willy Wonka, an eccentric man who lures children with candy to his secretive chocolate factory? Was he really that lacking in self awareness? Was he obsessed with trying to normalise his behaviour with children? How do you think the movie would have been received if he was in it? Enjoy this cursed AI fan edit with Michael Jackson as Willy Wonka so you can see what could have been - it's full of comments from fans saying how wonderful it would've been if MJ had been in it

Lionsgate: "Michael" sequel "big and satisfying movie"
It'll be really interesting to see what they do - I'm assuming 75% of the movie will be about his special little boy friends because that's what he spent the vast majority of his time doing once he moved to Neverland. The delulu estate is really bringing this on themselves by having the audacity to sanitise the absolutely filthy life Michael lived. Even members of the family aren't all banding around this film when they are beneficiaries of the estate. There are so many victims and plenty that haven't come forward I am sure, this is just the beginning. MJ's remaining fans all seem to share a common trait - they love volunteering their time to defend PDFs and inappropriate behaviour with children, as well as shaming, attacking and silencing people for stating the facts about his behaviour.

None of ya'll were upset when Gwen appropriated this culture
And that's okay. Gwen's MAGAface era, Bouquet, was just a continuation of her cultural appropriation. Are you, like me, holding on to the vain hope that she's just doing it to please her man and she'll come and get us with some Adele heartbreak smashas when they divorce? Like how did the same DIVA who used to be one of the biggest female band members of all time, had an untouchable solo career, and made a respected designer fashion label that wasn't just an endorsement deal, end up with a guy dressed like that? What is that shirt? The man put in zero effort and gets called sexiest man alive? Is she actually MAGA or is she just a chameleon as she once sang in Magic's in the Makeup? What colour will she be next?
