  1. Finally getting to it and Better Than She Can is incredible. I love that she's exploring and settling her identity as an artist while continuing to evolve. And credit to Timbaland, just makes me wish Missy would do another Cookbook with him or something next.
  2. Because they weren't nepo babies with all the sweet Trattoria money to buy them through expensive art school. Madonna went to the school of hard knocks, and had to dance as people shot at her feet in the dangerous streets of manhattan. Beyonce literally has been Beyonce her whole life, Destiny's Child was formed before their birth certificates were signed and left the hospital they were born in. Gaga went to art school and came up with a character. Shes tried a lot of different characters, and she's currently doing a better Liza Minelli impression than Liza herself. She's a character actress that transcends genres and mediums, but she is always playing a character and that's her primary talent (of many). Madonna and Beyonce are full time musical legends, nobody will ever take their acting seriously because they cannot play any other character but themselves, which is why they are better recording artists. That said, even Madonna and Beyoncé's most tragic movie scenes are miles better than Joe Calderone. Thank god she got better at it. You can't do a game changing house album and also be the person who did Joe Calderone, sorry you can only pick one Also if you're going to talk about genre forward house albums we need to acknowledge Lion Babe's 'House of Lion Babe'. It's better than all of them.
  3. What she did certainly had class to it.
  4. Tell us what you found on TikTok sweetie, this is a safe space. Which one did which? We will never know.
  5. $20 million, that is how much Jennifer Lopez' "This Is Me Now (a Love Story)" cost to make, the same amount as Taylor Swifts recent Madison Square Garden wedding. What do you think was a better use of $20 million? I think personally that $20 million is a bit too much for a wedding and that real love tends to be more romantic when it's focused on the two people getting married rather than turning it into a spectacle, it's giving Connecticut sweet 16 with ponies. None of it is tax deductible because it's not a business expense, no matter how commercialised it is. That said it is bold, a little Veruca Salt coded, and a genius way to get attention. Ms Lopez on the other hand self-funded the movie based on her creative vision, sold the rights to Amazon, can continue to make revenue from it, and write off the losses, which were not insignificant. She rebranded herself, delivered her most cohesive era yet, and achieved something big as an artist by funding her own vision in a way others haven't. Unlike Taylor's wedding, This is me now was a #1 hit on Amazon, effectively catapulting Katy into space, while Taylor's wedding was quite literally nowhere to be seen on those very same charts. Money is no object for either of them, but I feel it seems like one of these two "projects" screams self actualised and confident while another feels like somebody losing complete touch with the line between business and love. What do you think?
  6. Easily my favourite album of hers, followed by 4, special mention to the flawless singles on DIL.
  7. Loving this and so here for her continuing to put out music. She has the wisdom to just keep going and it's what has allowed her such sustained and consistent success. I think a lot of the hate she and Mariah get has a lot to do with them being successful biracial women with wealth, power, looks, talent so all that's left to attack is them being "divas" which imo is a covert cowardly way of invalidating their aforementioned qualities because it makes them uncomfortable to see them thriving. Both of them have been treated like flops but even their flop moments got significant cultural attention anyway, like Glitter and This Is Me Now are both kind of iconic flops in pop culture, like Bionic, and therefore destined to become cult classics. Lbr we know why she isn't doing music videos after the response to her Amazon Prime visual album, which got more negative press than Melania's propaganda film, says it all really. People even mocked her for supposedly not making a profit and it's like she doesn't need to, she can afford to do a project like that and it's nice to see a wealthy person just invest in art like that instead of going to the damn moon.
  8. This website is full of closet gaycels who literally have no idea how real life works. Circuit parties are a specific scene and they don't represent all gay people at all. People in happy long term monogamous relationships are usually not on that scene or they leave it once they are in a stable relationship. Gay men on average do take a bit longer to mature due to being male and also because homophobia limits earlier developmental Experiences of dating and romantic interaction. But they do get there and some don't. Make some gay friends in real life and you'll realise that the subcultures that are the more visible online are usually just the tip of the iceberg of broader queer diaspora. I have no interest in circuit parties or gay cruises but it's just as a valid a lifestyle choice as anything else. There are also people in long term stable relationships, both monogamous and non monogamous that participate in Circuit parties, Just like there are people who spend their time obsessively fixating over chart positions online.
  9. You're right, you don't know how to put it, because there's sth so cliche about how you did put it that makes you immediately uncool. I'm so here for Chloe and was wondering what she'd been up to, RnB girlies always get a really hard time online so I am glad she keeps going and plays the long game.
  10. Literally ya'll are creeps for commenting on her looks now, she's ageing backwards so she's basically a minor now, one more facelift and Nicki bout to lose her husband.
  11. I ******* love her. I loved This Is Me Now as well and I'm glad she's still going with music. This could do with a really good video with a similar concept just her staring deadpan at the camera - it's something different for her. I hope this is her On the Floor of the 2020s.
  12. Britney. And tbh people saying otherwise aren't gonna know what will hit them. Whether you're a fan or not almost everyone was invested heavily in her in some way at some point and there's a sense of collective culpability with what already happened to her (she's still accountable for her behaviour, I mean the way the media and public have treated her). I think losing any of the artists we love on here would have a profound impact but Britney's artistry, music and life story are all deeply intertwined in a way that adds complexity. I see it as more a Kurt Cobain/Amy Winehouse/Marilyn Monroe/Nicki's career after 2019 kind of death. Another example is Madonna or Kylie (tm the other can rest in lip kits for all I care) but I feel they have both had such incredible success past the age of 50 that there's at least a sense that their dreams did come true and those deaths tend to be the ones where you celebrate a legacy rather than mourn the tragedy. Madonna's near death experience recently I think had helped people be less **** and ageist to her finally. That said I want all of them to live long happy lives until they are at least 80-90, and I want that for all of your on ATRL too even though with the ages you're pushing, that isn't too far away I fear.
  13. I mean I really don't care but when we say "demanded credits" it made me think how Stans literally think artists are hanging with each other in the studio and discussing business and credits directly when it's almost certainly parent companies, business managers and agents interacting to do the business side after they had their studio time and a lowkey staged fake social hang, and their people are just gonna do what is best for them which is advocate for their client who they get a percentage from. I am not a Taylor fan but it's not like she was registering herself as the writer of Ave Maria and even then we know Beyonce did not personally do that.
  14. Literally the best movie of the 00s by far along with Legally Blonde.
  15. She is most likely a survivor of CSA or some other kind of serious sexual trauma. It's not funny. This is how it shows up in the body.
