Miley Ray Cyrus and Taylor Alison Swift were once friends and seen together all the time at award shows, premieres and in paparazzi pics back in the 2008-2009 days, and then suddenly were never seen together again. Odd. They even worked on Hannah Montana and performed together at the Grammy’s. Taylor also hired Miley’s then-boyfriend Justin Gaston for her “Love Story” music video.

 

It’s hard to believe they haven't been photographed together or had any run-ins since 2009, being in the same industry and all. Taylor was in the audience for Miley’s infamous 2013 VMA performance, but no run-in ….. and again they narrowly avoided each other at the 2019 VMA’s. 

Cyrus made this statement to The Times in 2015, which seemed to hint at Swift - 

"I’m not trying to be in the squad. None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives, because I’m inspired by them."

 

Miley also liked a meme that dissed Taylor in 2018.

Doesn’t Taylor live in London with her long term partner and Miley is happy somewhere in the American Midwest? Not to mention living through an isolating pandemic where their career paths do not cross. Why would they be interacting rn?

I don’t think they’re really “friends” friends. Even Taylor and Demi were once friends and Taylor sending Demi emails during the time she was in rehab.

 

Life happens and you lose friends as you grow up.

I mean it must be hard keeping a friendship at that level, they're busy traveling and whatnot. Actors have it easier on this, they can film movies together for months and go to all those awards shows.

There doesn’t. Just strange they went from being seen together frequently to not being seen together in 14 years. Just wondered if anyone knows if there is a reason or not

here's the reason - Miley basically confirmed that Taylor is fake  

Someone accused Taylor of calling Miley/Robin Thicke’s performance “grotesque” at an after party. Taylor’s team denied this happened. I feel like I remember reading that Miley was also apparently annoyed at not being invited to take part in the Bad Blood video.

I recall Miley shading Taylor a lot and Taylor never responding. Like with Demi

 

these were simpler times…

There are a bunch of people who I hung out with a lot 15 years ago in my teens but no longer hang out with.  This is extremely normal.  
 

Some of those people are even in my industry and in the same city.  Still have not talked to them in a long while.

i like taylor but i truly do feel as though she does not like to associate with sexual women.

Taylor always gives me the vibe that she can’t take a joke and takes herself way too seriously. Miley is more down to earth and chill and isn’t as obsessed with being calculated (which is why she came for Taylor’s squad in the past)

people simply grow up and grow apart and don't nessesrly stay in touch, there doesn't have to be an actual reason.

They grew apart. They are very different.

lucas and miley had a fling or something and taylor got him to play her love interest in the you belong with me mv and had a fling with him later too.

I think Miley-Taylor was just PR. Once they both moved out of their disney teen phases their paths never crossed again. It was smart for Taylor to associate with the Disney girls without being a Disney girl herself. It exposed her music beyond her already big country audience. I’m sure they are polite to each other, otherwise we would have had tea by now, since Miley is very outspoken. Musically they’re not a match at all, but I’d be here for a duet
