literally the effect of word of mouth for an artist who has collected so many casual listeners over the years

 

the first day streams were people most susceptible to marketing from Miley's team and label but the increases the last 2 days must largely be contributed to the viral Liam narratives + When I Was Your Man reference (hence WIWYM recharting), and her casual listeners finding out about the new release. 

 

And the song's replay value is pretty good too.

Slide Away is literally Part 1 and Flowers is part 2 of the story, even visually both videos are the same (gold dress, fancy house, pool).

In an ideal world she would rerelease Slide Away as the 3rd single of the new album and it would become the worldwide smash it deserves to be . I'm convinced it would be a major hit for her if released now (had it not been released in 2019).

She needs to go back into the studio and write a proper 2nd verse and bridge for Slide Away... and then maybe it might be able to smash

I love how haters on twitter are saying columbia is doing shady stuff behind the scenes to make this smash

This is a really good song! I'm so happy we got a hit this early in the year. Last year no hit till the Harry styles song in April
