Not that Taylor Swift's third album Speak Now wasn't a massive commercial success - it definitely was - but it kinda feels forgotten nowadays, doesn't it? Is that because it came out in between Fearless and Red, two albums that were arguably bigger than Speak Now? Or because Speak Now didn't have a massive hit single?

Taylor’s Version with Enchanted as the lead single will turn it into a REMEMBERED classic

I wouldn't call it forgotten, but it tends to get left out of the conversation because it lacks a genuine smash hit until Enchanted TV comes out. The album sold well and some songs charted high, but nothing on the level of YBWM, WANEGBT or Trouble.

 

TS, Fearless, Red and 1989 all advanced or changed her career in some way, while Speak Now is just sort of there (which, in Taylor's world, means the 2nd biggest album of 2011, kii)

It's not forgotten. It catapulted Taylor into a massive slayage with Red. It didn't flop nor hurt her brand. It just didn't produce smash singles.

It feels "forgotten" because it's squeezed right in-between two other, much bigger and more significant Taylor Swift albums, aka 'Fearless' and 'RED'.

But compared to other albums of its year, it actually has quite the good recurrent streams on Spotify:

 

3,504,296 - 'Doo-Wops & Hooligans'

3,134,333 - 'Teenage Dream'

2,154,411 - 'Speak Now'

1,917,552 - 'All I Want Is You'

1,579,921 - 'Loud'

It's 3rd among all 2010 albums, and only behind the peak albums of two of the biggest artists of the 2010s.

It’s because Haunted was never a single I’m afraid 

Cuz it is, globally. Speak Now lacked global hits. None of it's singles was truly a hit outside the US. It was 100% a "drop" from Taylor in terms of global hits  in comparision with Fearless. It truly did lack a global hit.

 

But with Red she started her global domination with her unstoppable punchs. 

I like it a lot and it's nostalgic for me tho. 

It lacked global hits and was released between 2 huge eras from Taylor (Fearless and Red). At the end it felt just there and was kinda lost in between but was definitely good for her catalog, especially since she wrote that album all by herself.

It's pretty much completely unknown outside of fans/the USA Over 80% of its album sales came from North America, compared to just 67% from Red. I'd never even heard of it or its singles until I came on ATRL 

Almost every 12 year old album is forgotten unless it's an iconic album to the GP

Let's hope the TV rectify that mistake. People need to realise how great of an album it is. It's probably her album with the most fan favourite songs, they just never really reached out to the GP outside of Enchanted. 

 

It's recurrent stats are decent/good though. Over 2M streams daily + Enchanted going viral + sometimes charting on the B200. It's just that it pales in comparison with Fearless and Red in terms of success. 

She was still kinda transitioning from country to pop then. It’s still a recurrent success in its own right considering the lack of smash hits. Pop audiences just think of Red and the smash hits on Fearless without much acknowledgment to what was in between. 

I think it's extremely local, I don't think I know one single from it?

It is hardly forgotten.  It is just not talked about as much as RED and Fearless.  
 

This says more about how successful Taylor has been that one of the most successful albums of 2010 which still gets 2m+ streams a day feels “forgotten” because she has many more talked about albums. 

It didn’t flop, but imo it’s Taylor’s Music/Bedtime Stories. An album that was sandwiched between two commercially massive or highly controversial and publicized releases.

 

Fortunately SNTV is coming to to remind the GP how great it is

sadly miss Swift didn't know how to handle her best album and we never got a release for Haunted (and the song that obliterates ATW, aka Last Kiss.)

 

I don’t understand why. Its her best album in my opinion.

Whewww the taste. Imagine if Taylor hired us to plan her eras??? Mankind would not be able to handle her slayage. It’s for the best I’m afraid 

I'm not even a Taylor fan but it's not forgotten. I feel like this era didn't have a massive single and it was in between two MASSIVE eras for her (red and fearless), so it kind of fell out.

Lack of smash hits from that album, hopefully she released enchanted tv as the lead single from speak now tv!!!!
