both of these albums were a let down for me. I guess I thought they'd be going for different sounds than they did.

 

both albums have maybe 2 or 3 songs I'll go back for... unless renaissance grows on me.

 

 

I haven't heard Renaissance and I already know it's gonna sweep Chroma

Wasnt huge on my first listen of Renaissance but I liked a lot of the more disco tracks a lot. Also Pure/Honey was great as well. The deep house songs where she's just talking about being thique, her *****, etc... I was bored. I like how layered the bass feels throughout the album tho. Chromatica has similar inspirations w house (tracks like Free Woman, Alice) but is obviously leaning much more on dance pop than straight up dance. It also just has catchier melodies imo, so I prefer it. Both are good though.

Renaissance is immaculately produced and sounds specific and expensive. Chromatica is a generic rush-job demo compilation and sounds like it.

Renaissance was quite disappointing so I will have to go with the superior album - Chromatica.

Renaissance is vastly superior in every single aspect

i think the production on Renaissance is better at times but Chromatica is melodically and lyrically better.

I think you just dont like the era of music Chromatica is referencing, because it's also very specific. People keep using words like "rushed" and "dated" for an album that has music performed by an orchestra that Gaga herself composed, and a very cohesive album sonically that is really easy to listen to. I never skip songs when I play Chromatica.

this is what chromatica should've been, those two alone stomp on OG album

 

I've listened to Renaissance from top to bottom like 6 times now and I still cant remember a single stand out melody- the production itself sounds better than Chromatica but it's not "catchy". I'm really torn on how I feel about this project still. (and i have pose 3 coming, and a vinyl coming - trust me I really wanted to like it)

 

She sounds SO GOOD, and thematically I'm into it, but I dunno still. Even songs like Summer Renaissance that start with a legendary Donna Summer sample kinda fall apart for me by the end. Is it that the tracks feel too long? I cant put my finger on it yet. Hoping it grows on me, the photo shoots are serving budget, and i would imagine the tour is gonna be insane.

Renaissance and it's not even close. It's actually insulting to be comparing it to that sad and very safe record. They sound nothing alike.
