It’s annoying but these veterans start getting lazy like this.  It’s annoying. They were always more driven in the beginning.

I think its a matter of an inability to be everywhere at once and also "Been there, done that." She has three young children she'd rather be present for and can't work 72 hours straight like she used to.

Family and quality of life matter to her more now than another #1 single. She's already got plenty of those.

Allow me to welcome the Hive to exactly the same mess that little monsters went through in 2020 :toofunny2:

This. I feel like I remember people theorizing that even the self-titled surprise drop was only a thing so that if it flopped, that could be the excuse

All of the weird strategies with most of her releases after self-titled all seem to play into the same thing -- the surprise drops, lack of promo, weird choices with singles/videos/streaming, etc. It gives her a good excuse if she flops. It's honestly really savvy of her to have flipped it into the "Queen Bey doesn't give a ****" attitude

Obviously, almost everything she puts out is a smash success regardless, but having those convenient excuses helps shield her.

For some strange reason, my replies to you aren't posting. Send me Lemonades sales with outSPS from 2017, US only. Pm me.

Must b worms in the brain

the only thing that redeems them are the  streaming figures.

Them being Lemonade and 4.

4's streams are impressive but the album also amassed 4M SPS in the US and close to 4M pure ww so no, streaming is not what redeems it.

And Lemonade's streams are a disaster, what are you even talking about? You clearly have no clue.

Lemonade being at like 1.1-1.4 M after a year compared to her peers like Taylor and Adele was embarrassing.

Since when are Adele and Taylor her peers? And which point do you think you're making comparing them in particular?

And nothing about Lemonade's sales is embarrassing.

If rumors of a trilogy are true, im more than fine with a slow rollout like this.

Shes been doing the "massive debut week" for her last 2 projects and tbh the eras kind of died after 3-4 months. If this rollout results in ab era that lasts more than that, im more than happy

If the rumors arent true, choke puta

You guys need to give up on this fantasy that she'll ever do a traditional rollout like IASF again. She has stated that she wants the music to speak for itself and it's pretty clear she doesn't want to get herself out there to interviews / appareances because that would mean to be vulnerable and accept conditions on other people's terms, which she doesn't **** with. That is why she delivers her story through HER mediums, like Homecoming for example.

Be here for the music, because that will always be top quality. She has done the pop game, she has done the legacy game, now she's just doing whatever makes her happy

If 29th comes and the album is just released without fanfare, I’m going to hand in my stan card. She really doesn’t care about us anymore.  You don’t even have to leave your house to make an era engaging these days. It’s just downright disappointing. I want to believe there’s a plan buy with every passing day of nothingness, that glimmer dissipates.

She should’ve bridged the release gap to 2-3 weeks if she was gonna serve graveyard. Look how much Taylor, Adele and Harry accomplished within that window. Anyways, my expectations have come undone for the last time. I won’t be anticipating B8.

She's already done more for this album than ST/Lemonade to be honest.

On ST we got her commentary on the songs which is a win-win Cus she didn’t have to sit with an interviewer. Just spoke and kept it about the music. Edited to her taste and all. The only thing she’s done this time is to get us to pay for stuff in advance.

I think she’s keeping an eye on what the fans are speculating and scrambling over amidst her silence, gathering any last minute ideas to utilize for later as a way of telling us she’s been listening in the whole time. That or she’s just relentlessly rehearsing in private for upcoming pop ups and shows. She knows people have been begging for for Popyoncé comeback and she probably wants to truly give the people what they want without getting too politically polarizing this time around. At least not in a way that’s too culturally distinct, close and personal. It’l be more universal. Whether there’s a video for BMS or not is one thing, but my theory is that it could just be part of the Renaissance FILM and releasing it could spoil that fact, especially if it’s almost in the middle of the film (track 6), Beyoncé has always been very adamant about wanting people to experience her body of work in full. Who knows, I doubt her silence is for nothing though.

What is the point of promoting in 2022 though ? You can sell million of albums and singles without any promotion nowadays.

Artists who've achieved everything there is just aren't motivated enough to do promotion unless theres big money involved, if netfilix or whoever gives her money to promote, she'll do it otherwise it'll quite the whole era really :cm:

and there it is :cm:

Bey really did that Vogue photoshoot and dropped the single in quick succession to make us think we were getting a "normal" era and then just left us all high and dry until the 29th.

All I expect from her at this point is to keep making music and hopefully keep doing tours. She doesn't need to do anything else at this point in her career.

I don’t know what she’s doing, the video should’ve been out weeks ago.

Well I assume the point was to give advanced notice, to get people hyped, to allow pre-orders, to get her name and song out there...

To expect that Beyoncé is suddenly going to go all out is a bit odd considering the minimal promoting she's done for her past 5 releases.

What we have now is more than all those 5 releases combined had before they were released, even if compared to others its not that much.

The singles did, hugely.  I would say 4 and Lemonade underperformed and the only thing that redeems them are the  streaming figures. Lemonade being at like 1.1-1.4 M after a year compared to her peers like Taylor and Adele was embarrassing. Beyonce was what? 33-34? Not even past her prime.  Same can be said for 4.

Um, comparing Lemoande's sales to Taylor or Adele, neither of which have made an album half as pointed to one issue or controversial in their career is a bit odd. Both sell extremely well in part due to their big fandom and respect, but also because they generally stick to what they're known for and don't challenge society's status quo. Lemonade was launched with a Black pride, BLM-inspired video for which she was branded "racist", subsequently alienating right-wing fans and the general public alike. No Taylor or Adele album has been preceeded with a proposed "boycott" of the artist, either, and it's well documented that in America white women sell far more albums than their black counterparts. For example, since 2000 not one album by a black female artist has gone diamond, and only 3 black women have been certified with RIAA diamond albums in its entire history.

Anyway, Lemonade was still the best selling album released in 2016 according to the IFPI so how exactly is that embarassing?

it's been over a decade since beyoncé has done exactly what she wants without the slightest regard for established industry expectations or best practices.

this is a woman who:

  • performed at the Super Bowl (2013) the year she was returning to music and didn't use it at all to promote a new song
  • had 2 songs in big commercails (Pepsi & H&M) and released neither
  • released a promo single to soundcloud
  • decided to forgo traditional releases and put out her comeback with NO NOTICE or PROMO whatsoever
  • did not release on the beginning of the tracking week (a practice that would continue for just about EVERY of her releases that followed)
  • record a video for ALL songs (and more) and release them all at once instead of saving them for best impact per single
  • released/premiered an anticipated Nicki Minaj remix to soundcloud
  • released a comeback music video as UNLISTED (that stayed that way for NINE months, even after it won VOTY)
    • did not put the song up for sale
    • did not send it to radio
    • did not put it on streaming
    • gave it for free
  • surprise released a RAP album with her husband then didn't promote it at all
  • put out a conceptual soundtrack album and barely promoted it but for a BTS documentary
  • waited a YEAR to release a visual album for the above soundtrack and did it for the sheer sake of it
  • did not campaign WHATSOEVER for her Oscar nomination
  • etc...(I know I am missing some stuff here)

Beyonce puts in more or just as much work behind the scenes as any top artists. The quality of her output supercedes most.  You can almost bet the visual aspect will be fully actualized, thoughtful and award-winning likely.  Being upset that she hasn’t met your marketing expectations prior to releasing her album is…when you know she is going to deliver each and every time she comes across your screen or headphones in what is presumed to be a multivolume work is a choice.
