Happier Than Ever was by far bigger. It spent 3 weeks at #1 (more than any Ariana album), is still top 30 on the Billboard 200 10 months after its release and had better chart runs/peaks globally. It also did better on year-end charts.

 

I think Sweetener was already out of the top 60 by this point.

Bigger: HTE's sold more and so far has charted better so that

Cover: Not a fan of either but the spray tanned Sweetener cover is way worse.

I love Ari way more than Billie, but sweetener  is legit trash and benefited from a media narrative.

Bigger era - HTE was the bigger album, Sweetener had the bigger singles

Better album - HTE has better production as a body of work, but I liked Sweetener's highlights more (HTE title track is the strongest from both tho)

Better album cover - Love both but HTE's is perfect

Happier than Ever served quality.  Sweetener was bigger...however, HTE is serving stability and could easily be bigger in the long run. 

Happier Than Ever as a whole album is so much better than sweetener

 

sweetener has more **** songs than good ones, blazed and TLIC make me barf

Ariana has yet to drop an album half as good as any of Billie's tbh

HTE for all. fucc pharrell for ruining sweetener

Bigger: HTE if it maintains its longevity

Cover: I love Sweetener's aesthetic so it wins

I don’t know the actual numbers But sweetener felt bigger.

 

HTE is better tho.

Extremely Hard & Incredibly Close

Sweetener - 5,711,000

Happier Than Ever - 3,234,000 (streams only)

 

Happier Than Ever will surpass Sweetener in 2024/2025.

 

Happier Than Ever is more cohesive and has an overarching theme, but Sweetener has a better set of highs overall.

 

Both covers are meh, but HTE pulled it off way better.

Happier Than Ever has more longevity on the charts and outsold it but sweetener somewhat "feels" bigger because it had more hits.

HTE for all tbh.

 

HTE will probably end up bigger in the long run if it keeps up it's longevity. sweetener stomps in the singles department obviously.

 

Both covers kinda suck but I also prefer Billie's. NTLTC cover is much better than both.

sweetener feels bigger because of the singles and the media attention around her at the time but i prefer happier than ever sonically and album cover wise
