this is absolutely phenomenal, so proud of these legends! genuinely can’t even pick a top 5 at the moment because there are just so many standouts. all killer no filler indeed!

1. Silk Chiffon - 8

2. What I Want - 10 (HOLY **** THEY DID NOT NEED TO GO THAT HARD)

3. Runners High - 6

4. Home By Now - 10

5. Kind Of Girl - 7

6. Handle Me - 6

7. No Idea - 8

8. Solid - 8

9. Anything But Me - 9

10. Loose Garment - 8

11. Shooting Star - 8

Ok, seriously one of the best bands we have. Another phenomenal record. They deserve to be HUGE. The production, the lyricism, the melodies. All *chefs kiss*.

Imagine having a massive undeniable gay bop like What I Want up your sleeve and not releasing it as a pre-release single in time for pride. The self-sabotage. :deadbanana2:

It should have been released instead of Home By Now and Kind of Girl. :rip:

It's to build hype for the album release. Smart Queens

I still think Saves the world is their best album as a whole since nothing has topped Pink Light and N1Fan for me but WIW comes close :WAP:

Okay so after a few listens this is how I would rate the songs now :gaycat2:

  1. Silk Chiffon: 10 --> Can't believe I didn't like this on first listen, cause it's stil SO GOOD
  2. What I Want: 11 --> BOP BOP BOP. They're saving pop music by releasing this 4+ minute banger :flame:
  3. Runner's High: 9.5 --> ******* hell, the production hits so hard every single time. Does feel a bit flat towards the end tho, maybe it needed a better outro the last time that beat dropped
  4. Home By Now: 10 --> Classic MUNA. Everything that has a fast-paced beat like that is an instant favourite of mine, so this one is too
  5. Kind Of Girl: --> Katie's voice sounds so good on this and I love the songwriting
  6. Handle Me: --> Cute, love the dragged out vocal in the chorus
  7. No Idea: --> The post-chorus really saves the chorus here tbh. This SCREAMS for an extended outro or an extra chorus. It's giving Memento cut-off vibes at the end
  8. Solid: 7.5 --> Cute, but kinda repetitive too. Might grow on me more. Love how Katie sings 'Yeah, she is of material substance' before the chorus
  9. Anything But Me: --> I know everybody loves this, but for me this is clearly the weakest song on the album. It's definitely cute, but a bit generic in the wrong way imo. Can still bop tho
  10. Loose Garment: --> The strings are gorgeous and love how Katie changed it up a bit with the vocals here. Might grow on me even more!
  11. Shooting Star: --> They're so good at building up tracks towards a good explosion and this is no exception. Great closer :clap3:

oh its a serve, so many highlights, definitely contender for aoty

only song im not 100% sold on is Handle Me

What I Want is SOTY material right there!!! Hatchie-Quicksand better pack it up

This is how I feel after my first listen:

Anything But Me - This might be their best song ever.

Silk Chiffon - Loved it when it first dropped. Love it now.

Home By Now - This is why we listen to MUNA.

What I Want - A bop. A bit over hyped, but good.

Kind of Girl - This one had to grow on me, but now I love it.

Loose Garment - ****. Me. Up.
No Idea - Fun with some 90s flourishes.

Handle Me - Waiting for a Robyn remix.

Shooting Star - I think this one will grow on me.

Solid - Eeeeehhhhhh...

Runner's High - This one didn't click for me.

Handle Me on second listen :jonny:

I really liked this album on first listen but a lot of the new songs will need repeated listens to grow. I tend to find that with their songs though.

Thought I'd check this out after only just finding out about them for their 'Sometimes' cover  and I am BLOWN AWAY. This entire record is such a vibe I love it so much. :jonnycat: Had it on repeat most the morning and just decided to get tickets for their London show later this year  :clap3:

Are there still tickets available? I thought they sold out?

Absolutely disgusted with myself that I'm just now discovering this group because it's been so long since a song hit as hard as What I Want! Lemme just go through their entire discography real quick :gaycat3:
