Shura - "Recognise"
so excited - forevher came out just when i started dating my bf and her music was so special to the early days of our relationship. her work always makes me feel warm and i've never been disappointed by a release. anyway tangent over, can't wait for this next week!!

Maggie Rogers - "In The Living Room"
genuinely one of my fave songs of the year, just so warm and lovely. the vocals are immaculate and the songwriting is just top notch. very surprised this didn't make the album!

Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'
i hate it here, the albatross, and thank you aimee are like....incredible....i cannot believe this woman i have no words

Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'
i feel like this is more evermore/midnights than folklore/midnights. just feels a bit more unhinged and like she doesn't give a single ****. fortnight is an odd choice for a lead tbh and i don't know if it works as an opener. it's a good song but not on the level of her usual openers. we'll see how this plays out!

Taylor Swift - 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT'
only going to listen to the songs i was most intrigued by (ttpd, down bad, and fn) and....the title track....wow

Taylor Swift - '1989 (Taylor's Version)'
omfg style sounds amazing - the synths on the chorus are just absolutely shining! loving this a lot so far!
-
Taylor Swift - 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)'
this isn’t a huge upgrade like fearless but it is definitely an improvement all around. vocally it’s vastly superior and i do like the majority of the new production choices. timeless, castles crumbling, and i can see you are all incredible vault tracks and are so excellent to the extent that the other three being mediocre at best doesn’t really matter. overall i’m so happy with this and can’t wait to see what else she has in store! the orchid vinyl is so stunning btw - would recommend!!

Taylor Swift - 'Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition)'
i kinda prefer the original SOTB…i’m a swiftie not a lana stan so more taylor is what i want - however it’s cool that they redid the song to appeal to more people and lana’s vocals are really nice. i also miss the outro! i wonder why they cut it.

Taylor Swift f/ Ice Spice - “Karma”
i actually don’t get the meltdowns at all…this is fine? it’s silly and fun, just like the original song? have any of you people even listened to ice spice before because this is pretty much on brand for her. it’s nice to see taylor do something different and unexpected, though this doesn’t usurp the original for me it’s nice to have and will probably be the version i play around my friends. hope the video comes soon - the few visuals we have so far look cool so would be great to see the final product.

Christine and the Queens - 'PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE'
the prologue was good but a bit too dense to fully enjoy, and though i love his french music (especially the likes of damn, dis-moi and le g) it’s hard to just sit down and listen to that album. to be honest is stellar and definitely gets me hyped for this era. the madonna features will be really cool to hear. very proud of him for sticking to the vision and getting this album out!!

Taylor Swift - ‘Midnights’
1. evermore 2. folklore 3. midnights 4. rep 5. speak now 6. red 7. 1989 8. fearless 9. lover 10. debut for now, we’ll see if midnights can hold! i have to be honest, the great war and bigger than the whole sky really ruin the flow of the album for me. the great war is growing on me a bit but idk i’m really not seeing what makes them stand above the rest. something about the melody of the great war reminds me of florida kilos by lana ?

Taylor Swift - ‘Midnights’
i listened to a little bit of the leak but i genuinely got so excited listening to anti-hero that i wanted to wait until it was officially out to enjoy it. the hold she has on me i swear... everyone who is saying this is like call it what you want as a full-blown album is just making me even more excited because that's one of my favourite songs of all time.

Taylor Swift - ‘Midnights’
i think this is giving me women in music pt III vibes more than anything else. a song like 3am would be absolutely perfect for this concept and vibe i feel.
-
Maggie Rogers - 'Surrender'
this album is so strong, definitely an AOTY contender for me. shatter especially is one of my fave songs released this year, obsessed with how feral it sounds. overall really impressive! very excited to see her live in november.

MUNA - 'MUNA'
saves the world is amazing, and this is even more amazing. there are some songs on their debut (promise and if u love me now specifically) that i don’t really like but in general those felt more like teething problems i think. but anyways muna are truly one of the most exciting and interesting bands out there at the moment. who is making songs as consistently terrific like number one fan, stayaway, what i want, and anything but me? i know a lot of people like to say those are just normal synthpop songs but…they really aren’t to me. everything is done with such heart and artistry i’m just so obsessed with these legends! think my top three is: what i want, solid, runner’s high - but genuinely it’s very hard to narrow it down. so excited for where they go next and will do everything in my power to support them!
-
MUNA - 'MUNA'
this is absolutely phenomenal, so proud of these legends! genuinely can’t even pick a top 5 at the moment because there are just so many standouts. all killer no filler indeed!

Taylor Swift - "This Love (Taylor's Version)"
this has always been one of my faves from 1989. the OG is so beautiful, but this elevates it to a new level. so clear and warm - don’t know how i could ever listen to the original ever again honestly. also the fact she still hasn’t tweeted about it gives me a tiny bit of hope a 1989 announcement is perhaps coming sooner than later.
-
Sigrid - 'How To Let Go'
honestly i feel like it gets dark is her best song, never mine is the only one that can compete for me, so i really think this album is a great improvement over her debut. sucker punch was a good album, but this feels like a natural progression. genuinely the only song i don’t like is bad life…and i really don’t understand its inclusion on the album. like it’s on the physical editions right? feels like a last minute add-on attempting to boost streams a bit and i don’t think she needs it really. anyway, my faves are: it gets dark, burning bridges, risk of getting hurt, and a driver saved my night. part of me feels like maybe it gets dark would have been a better closer than high note? i don’t know, need to sit with the album for a while. overall though i’m very happy to see her growth and see how she progresses going forward!

Florence + The Machine - 'Dance Fever'

evermore folklore reputation speak now red (tv) 1989 fearless (tv) red (og) lover fearless (og) debut i think once speak now is rerecorded it will be back in my top 3. fearless and red improved my opinion on the original albums substantially, so i’m very excited to see how debut and SN glow up.
