I was talking about eras, not lyrical content. ARTPOP is her most personal era with BTW, but the ARTPOP era represents the messiness/chaos Gaga is and why we stan her. :gaycat4:

You are in the majority. Chromatica is objectively better than ARTPOP in almost every way. A lot of monsters have nostalgia towards ARTPOP

Chromatica is leaps and bounds better than ARTPOP. Sadly , Monsters are a weak-minded fanbase — because OGHs/Britney/Madonna stans attack Chromatica due to it being her latest project and wanting to make Gaga look like she flopped with her most recent release, Monsters bash it too. Meanwhile OGH's have moved on from bashing ARTPOP so Monsters feel like they're allowed to praise it. Pathetic behavior that doesn't exist in any other fanbase, sadly.

Yeah it sucks cause Chromatica is one of her more cohesive and organized projects; the visuals being the most artistically appealing since BTW.

Only “tired” aspect I prob could agree on is the album sonically being too safe. Its sad bc the album seems to be wrote off so quickly. Even Joanne seems to get more love. :skull:

2013 was such a dark time but its been 10 years now, we have to let that hurt go.

She made up for it with the fan interactions. I wish that would come back.

True, she still talks to the public when she's playing the piano tho, but i guess with the pandemic she wanted to be more cautious.

Can this fanbase let go of DWUW? She's never going to re-do that song.

Speaking of ARTPOP I'mma need her to deliver an album with the same raw feeling/sound as these videos:

ARTPOP would be her Magnum Opus if she went this route :jonnycat:

None of what you just said exists in any reality but yours, sadly.

When your immediate excuse for discourse between the literal fanbase is "OGH/Britney/Madonna fans" :rip:

Personally, I wish ARTPOP was her sex era, but with a hipster twist. DWUW, Sexxx Dreams, and other sex bops being singles.

She prob would’ve had more bs Madge comparisons. BUT the theme was already to be explicit and rebellious. She kinda was like that in the earlier stages of the album rollout then morphed into a ghostly live painting with occassional dreads.

Spoiler

+ i still wish this was the album cover

ARTPOP isn't about anything, it's just chaos. She was in such a ridiculous bad time in her life that she didn't know what she wanted to do or how she wanted to sound so she just tried everything, and sadly it didn't work. This became even more apparent as the era went on. :rip:

I can appreciate ARTPOP for the chaos it is, but there's no deep meaning behind it and trying to ascribe one to it is just silly. Her intentions were pure, as they always are, but she slipped on this one.

It's genuinely mind boggling to see people pretend to like ARTPOP after the way they behaved during its era. :jonny: ARTPOP was the peak of my stanning so I was everywhere and paid attention to everything, and I was in the trenches desperately fighting to save its life (mostly against Gaga fans) so this is all surreal. Like, every single controversy and issue that happened during that era happened in part because of Gaga fans giving OGHs ammo and attention. The whole Angela Cheng thing blew up because Monsters didn't know how to ignore people and instead of spread her articles like crazy. :rip: They hated Applause and its performances, they hated Dope, they hated her choosing Venus for the second single, the hated the UK Venus performance, they hated all the "ugly" looks. It wasn't "GP friendly enough" the videos were "directed by professionals", etc. etc.

She was having so much fun earlier in the era acting a fool on twitter. I remember thinking that this era was going to be her sort of poking fun at her serious and pretentious attitude earlier in her career. But then she went down such a messy route, which I guess is understandable considering what we now know about what was happening behind the scenes.

This pic belongs in the MoMA

I always imagined this as an excellent artpop cover

Friendly reminder that artpop and chromatica share same pitchfork score :hippo: If artpop was rereleased and re-reviewed it would’ve had higher mc score than chromatica. It’s better and bigger than cosmetica ever was and ever will be.

Oh I always viewed the message being pain turned into rage and frustration vs Chromatica being pain but picking yourself back up. :michael:

Facts the break up really did a number on the era itself. I’m actually proud of her bc I thought society wanted her to have Britney 2007 moment. :deadbanana4:

Also dolby atmos ruined born this way, i dont know what they did but every song sounds like demo

ATRL is the only place I see such passionate hate for Artpop in 2023, move on like the rest of the fanbase :rip:

Taking the era trauma out of the equation, you're left with an insanely fun electronic album with her best instrumentals yet (I could list half the album here)

Dated straight up noise being her best instrumentals

Let's keep the arguments consistent because that can be used against BTW too.
