This is part 1 of the Lady Gaga discussion.

BTW definitely has her best instrumentals. A lot of those instrumentals work as songs on their own.

Imagine saying Joanne/Chromatica has better instrumentals than these :rip:

ARTPOP had some things that Chromatica lacked and vice versa. I love how bizarre, bombastic, and overambitious ARTPOP was. It's so loud, messy, abrasive, and chaotic but that's mainly why I like it. Yes, the execution fell rather flat and it could have been so much better but it's an amazing ride when I'm in the mood. I also have incredible memories of the album/era and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Chromatica is far better as an album to me, especially songwriting-wise, but it's also safe as hell. It's a cute listen but it doesn't have any sonic left-turns or surprises (911, Replay, Babylon, ROM are major career highlights tho) and could have benefitted a lot from a less sanitized production. Still the stronger and more cohesive record though. We just do too much because we're bored and the era was a trainwreck. Dawn of Chromatica saved it a biT for me.

Quranne's instrumentals are very underrated :chick3: DIC, John Wayne, Hey Girl, Angel Down :chick3: we need another Mark Ronson produced album

Where have ya’ll been during ARTPOP’s release? Because I remember how that album was trashed by her own fanbase even more so than Chromatica now and way more than what the OGH’s were doing. Truly ugly behaviour. It’s a pattern.

ARTPOP has nice instrumentals, ARTPOP and Fashion!

TFM is not my favorite, it has good moments ho.

BTW has something so magical, to this day I'm still finding new sounds and layers. :jonny6: Garibay and DJWS did that.

You're just mad at ARTPOP because it was an underperformance, but you really should be grateful because it's Gaga's last music project to which she committed 100%. There's also a lot of content, lots of great performances, lots of messy moments, etc.

Even Joanne is way better than Chromatica as an era. I'm sorry!

Dancing my a** off to Venus, G.U.Y., Applause, etc. at the gay clubs.

ATRL is the only place I see such passionate hate for Artpop in 2023, move on like the rest of the fanbase :rip:

Taking the era trauma out of the equation, you're left with an insanely fun electronic album with her best instrumentals yet (I could list half the album here)

It also has most of her best choruses :WAP:

UGH

Good for you, all gems.

Y'all only trash ARTGOD and Quranne because they're her worst performing albums, but the reality is that they're amazing.

Gaga instrumentals are really just some of the best to be found in mainstream pop and it’s because of the bombast and “noise”. It’s hook after hook. Even her supposed worst song is fire, I mean the chorus…I feel like I’m about to be abducted by an ooky spooky gay ass UFO and then it just revs up to hyper speed for Twista’s verse and Lord.

And there are so many little flourishes packed in; most artists would never push the boat out as far as Gaga is happy to do with her producers for pure pop exuberance. SOPHIE (RIP) really was the most logical progression of that and artists like Charli are running in that same field. And again, this is supposed to be her at her worst?

I believe the Super Bowl gave Joanne that boost + whenever Gaga is passionate about going against grain to whats trending, she puts more focus (i.e. 101 MR performances) into promo.

This is exactly why she only gave ChroMAGA one performance, she wasn't into that album

AP is her most poorly executed concept album, and most of the songs are overly simplistic attempts at conveying a deeper meaning in between drug spirals at EDC.  Dope is her most embarrassing song ever written and also the moment “Dope vocals” was forcibly engrained in our minds.

Joanne might have been a bit boring in comparison, but at least it got her back on the right track towards ASIB and eventually Chromatica.  Chrom would have been an amazing era if it was released 1 or 2 years later.

Perfect Illusion and Applause are her best lead singles.

ARTPOP has her best choruses.

Joanne is a solid record with more lyrical quality than TF and TFM.

Million Reason contributed to ASIB's success.

Yup yup success stans are MAD about Toucanne and Chartdrop, but they are indeed great :WAP:

idk maybe i’m the minority that prefers chromatica > artpop; both projects are about pain and trauma but chromatica gives me more keep going vibes.

Chromatica is leaps and bounds better than ARTPOP. Sadly , Monsters are a weak-minded fanbase — because OGHs/Britney/Madonna stans attack Chromatica due to it being her latest project and wanting to make Gaga look like she flopped with her most recent release, Monsters bash it too. Meanwhile OGH's have moved on from bashing ARTPOP so Monsters feel like they're allowed to praise it. Pathetic behavior that doesn't exist in any other fanbase, sadly.

You are in the majority. Chromatica is objectively better than ARTPOP in almost every way. A lot of monsters have nostalgia towards ARTPOP

ARTPOP isn't about anything, it's just chaos. She was in such a ridiculous bad time in her life that she didn't know what she wanted to do or how she wanted to sound so she just tried everything, and sadly it didn't work. This became even more apparent as the era went on. :rip:

I can appreciate ARTPOP for the chaos it is, but there's no deep meaning behind it and trying to ascribe one to it is just silly. Her intentions were pure, as they always are, but she slipped on this one.

It's genuinely mind boggling to see people pretend to like ARTPOP after the way they behaved during its era. :jonny: ARTPOP was the peak of my stanning so I was everywhere and paid attention to everything, and I was in the trenches desperately fighting to save its life (mostly against Gaga fans) so this is all surreal. Like, every single controversy and issue that happened during that era happened in part because of Gaga fans giving OGHs ammo and attention. The whole Angela Cheng thing blew up because Monsters didn't know how to ignore people and instead of spread her articles like crazy. :rip: They hated Applause and its performances, they hated Dope, they hated her choosing Venus for the second single, the hated the UK Venus performance, they hated all the "ugly" looks. It wasn't "GP friendly enough" the videos were "directed by professionals", etc. etc.

All true.

@Biggie it seems that it’s not only me who has notifications on.

Right, well said. Although I will always love ARTPOP.

Everyone and their mothers found a way to promote their albums during the pandemic but Gar didn't because she didn't want to promote something she didn't believe in
