The era is messy right now. We basically ended up switching lead singles and the current lead which sounds nothing like the snippets or rumored genre of the album is still smashing so hard it'll be hard not to have it overshadow the next single. And we thought we knew the aesthetic of the new record but with DWAS on the album it's kinda no longer the same. 
 

DWAS won't die anytime

soon it seems which is great too but it makes the rollout a bit messy even if they had teased and "prepared" us in the old school Gaga way like you mentioned. And on top of that they botched the rollout regarding the previous lead.

They're NOT switching the lead single, just because DWAS was added to the album doesn't mean it automatically becomes the lead single.

So glad we're less than 2 months from the album - insiders are not needed at all anymore 

Disease is THE lead single from the horse's mouth. DWAS is a bonus track. 

 

 

Poker face is her ultimate classic. It's everything a pop song should be. I'm drunk sorry 

The way DWAS could still be a deluxe track on streaming so it will still count to the album's streams (like Grigio Girls/JAD), but the standard will be used in reviews

yeah its definitely her best pop song, its so catchy.

Call me crazy but I feel like the only thing missing from this era is Gaga herself.. My explanation behind that is, DWAS was very reminiscent of a Stefani-type ballad which really shone in its own way. I remember when Gaga used to stan Bruno during her interview with Alex Fury when she was announcing Born This Way. It's kinda like she'd been waiting to make this music. As for LG7, it's just very patchy and almost a shell of something that has nothing inside yet and it's hard to have opinions of something that doesn't have context. I know I dragged Disease a lil' earlier, I do love the video and the song but I don't feel like it's entirely original. I really hope she finds clarity with this southern gothic / dark techno grunge pop emulation she has going on because it's not very clear and slightly misleading.

 

Also to the person who mentioned doing promo during Christmas / December, she released both TFM and Artpop in November but had consistently promoted both albums even after their releases. It all just seems a bit weird. I'm not sure if she is being squeezed by her record label again or if she's genuinely blue balling us.

i don't think the 2 days boost for ABS on NYE is enough to close the gap and block DWAS.

The needle has shifted on how music consumption in the month of December effects the charts. It's why most artists, not only Gaga, sit the month out. Just as an example, the second tracking week of December this year put 9 Christmas songs in the top 20 of the Hot 100. Doesn't seem a lot, but when compared to that time 10 years ago, there wasn't any in the top 20, and the first Christmas song charting in the same tracking week only comes in at #65. Also, by the second tracking week of December this year, 4 out of the top 5 songs were Christmas songs. Sadly, the streaming era has completely blown out essentially two whole months of the year for new music consumption, so she and her team know it was worth sitting out.

 

Now could they have just waited until the new year to roll out anything LG7 related to make the era feel more cohesive? Probably. But they knew we were champing at the bit for something LG7 related and probably anticipated the public reception to all her projects around the same time would have been different. It's been, a series of unfortunate events perhaps? And any other time of the year they could have worked on promo to try and solve it quickly, but in hindsight with the Christmas freeze on the horizon there wasn't a lot they could do.
