Everytime I play Alien Superstar, I just think of Prince.. which made me love it. I'm fond of many Prince influenced tracks and Alien Superstar is such an utopia of a track.

The Arabic vocal trills on Move are superior! Get ready for operatic Bey's improvisations to bring the opera house down live 

This album is truly opening her music back up to audiences she's never had, or lost a while back. I went to a bar for my friend's birthday last night and another of my friends ran over to me to tell me how obsessed he is with Renaissance.

 

He's never really been a fan of Bey, she's just never done it for him. But he was talking about how much he loved this album and how his faves are PURE/HONEY, THIQUE and ALIEN SUPERSTAR.  Love that she's reaching new people 25 years into her career!

Even my mother who mainly is a OBH beside a few exceptions mentioned the album and how it sounded appealing and that she heard about it on TV and stuff

 

Songs that mandatorily MUST get the single treatment after BMS has run its course:

 

1. Alien Superstar

2. All Up In Your Mind

 

Anything else after those tracks is a toss up that's up to her teams' hands.

My stan ego needs her to clear 300k. Tidal and her site sales need to come through.

 

Hopefully the fan push for BMS has a residual effect on the album #s and Tidal (lol) and her site sales push through. 

 

Solid numbers overall. 

 

Alien Superstar is a hit. Mark my words. 
 

It is still organically rising on UK AM 3 days after release. 
 

I don’t know why they didn’t push that song from the beginning.

I understand the stan ego sentiment... I think we all want her to have another successful era and I honestly think she'll at least do 300k+ sales.

I don't know probably because the verses don't feel radio-friendly? . 

But I think they don't know what to go with : they put a bunch of different songs in playlists. 

And I think Parkwood posted a poll today asking for the best bridge between AS, Cuff It, Church Girl and another song which I don't remember. Probably a trick to gauge interest for the new single. 

 

I do feel they'll go with Cuff It because it's safer.
