Can we stop with this narrative  it's certified diamond in Brazil and multiplatinum in a bunch of other markets which is exceptional for an alternative R&B surprise album. It may have not performed as well as her albums from the 2000s (when she was at the peak of her career, commercially), but to say she alienated her global audience when 4, ST and Lem achieved phenomenal global success is absurd.

Also the music video is almost a guilty pleasure camp masterpiece except for Gar, her part of the song is dismal and she looks positively ghoulish, kills the vibe etc etc

This is a good time to remember that vault Bey has that she studies lol. Remember she watches back all her interviews and critiques herself, she def has super anxiety and I dont see how you cant with that career. I do think shes grown out of it now reading her last few interviews, she seems at peace with her career now and very happy with her success. That leaves her room to really do music and for all the meltdowns, we have gotten some AMAZING **** not many others get.

 

Black Is King is an amazing film.

The Gift is incredible.

Apeshit (and a few other songs on EIL) are great additions to my extensive Beylogué.

Both versions of Video Phone suck  IASF is a solid album though, the I Am side is full of timeless gems.
