I've convinced myself that the unavailability of her full tours and TV performances is just her and Parkwood's latter-day "Disney vault" type strategy to build demand and we'll get everything eventually. Ideally the Mrs. Carter and Formation tours on 4K UHD with era-specific TV performances as bonus features.

Not even the mismanagement of TG or her not uploading her spectacular performances?

Though I can realistically say the release of The Gift did it no favours, and I don't like the choice she made to not give it the push/attention it deserves, it doesn't really bother me so much because I'm really not looking for her to have commercial success first and foremost. I'm more upset that she didn't perform any song yet because I want to see performances vs. whatever those performances woud've done for the album/it's notoriety. I think there's a difference between thinking critically about the success / failure of choices, and being critical about those choices to the point that it becomes a personal affront.

 

About performance uploads, yes I want HD videos available but I'm not like...intensely upset at her for not uploading them. They still exist unofficially. I can still see them in HD. Maybe it's that I truly started stanning at the beginning of YouTube when nothing was official and I had to search on my own and that was part of my fandom, but "official" uploads are not on my radar.

 

 

 

BTINH bothered me from an artistic standpoint. It's Irreplaceable 7.0, after everyone had their own version. Even Rihanna had three versions of it. I felt it was a basic single for 2011 (5 years after Irreplaceable), and found the video very clichéd (wedding themes are quite annoying to me) and plus I hated those dry buns she wore. This was stylistic issues multiplied by the annoyance that it was the best performing single of the era that made me upset about it.

 

 

 

I'm not bothered by how Beyoncé releases because she's still releasing. My adoration of her content is not dependant on how many people also find their way to her content, it's more personal than that. I don't think your love is dependent on other's opinion by any means, but I'd venture to guess that your happiness in any given era also depends on how well executed you think it is, vs. just based on quality of work and how it makes you feel.

 

Don't get me wrong, stanning Beyoncé is a thrill when the world is on board with her, but I've seen the way she's pivoted more to cultural legacy works than commercial ubquity and I love that too. EIL was clearly a non-event even in Beyoncé's eyes. Homecoming is a smash live album. The Gift underperformed majorly and she did nothing to stop it, but still gave us one of her best works ever (Black is King). I'm fine with all of that.

 

She still knows what she's doing and even as silly a rollout as an IG bio announcment is, she has gotten her some pretty clear initial commercial success. I'm not about to spend the leadup to the album being worried and upset about what she does or doesn't do.

Positive things this era :

- We have the single before the album

- The single is on sale 

- The album was announced and we have a date and the title 

- We are getting vinyls and they seem to be playing the charts' game. 

 

They don't want to use her IG for whatever reason and the teaser thing won't happen but that's OK. 

 

I also think the video will come this Friday or next Friday.

Doesn't the point you're conveying in the first part contradict with the one in the second part though?

The main thing I'm hoping for this era is that we get performances, and that they are timed according to when a certain single is released. It doesn't matter to me if the video is already out with a visual album, but in the case of Lemonade, she performed all her singles at some point in the era (even if in the context of a medley in the case of Hold Up and Sorry) but never at the time that they were promted as singles, their videos released to YouTube...

 

I kind of feel that by her already opening the gates to commercail success more than she has in a long while, she will do a bit more for her singles, BUT she's still like, half-in-half-out based on BREAK MY SOUL's video / promo still being waited on.

It's a podcast that dissects an artist at a time, and then ranks them in the pantheon of pop...they also spread these episodes out with other filler/general discussion episodes, and this week they released a reaction/dissection of BREAK MY SOUL.

 

It's pretty interesting.

 

(They have not yet dissected Beyoncé as a whole, as they are probably not wanting to get such an important one out of the way, but the host has mentioned several times that Beyoncé is clearly a Tier 1).

something to consider is that since she released in the middle of the week, her "second" week on the charts actually has half of her "first week"'s sales, so I can sort of see her thinking she can float on that until the video is out, if indeed they are waiting to strike at a particular moment.

As much as we were deprived from  a lot of proper pomo from Beyonce...in a way we have been spoiled too.  We usually get everything  at once or within a week like with Lem and ST. We're aren't used to this tradition roll out anymore and the waiting. I think we just need to relax and enjoy the ride so far. Im actually glad we have the single on all streaming platforms AND we have radio on board. 

Also, I have been thinking that Bey's lack of push on pop radio over the years was avoid the underlying age issue when it comes to pop radio. On the otherhand, I think its just because its Beyonce and her name carries weight with label backing its even bigger. I just find it amazing radio is THIS supportive so far and I wonder why.

lol right...the last time the Hive had to wait for a video after getting a single was 2014 with 7/11 and I don't think anyone really expected a video for it... we don't know how to act.

Do we need to go over comprehension? The first part of my post was clearly about them panicking over the charts. I'm not about to explain **** else to you. ANYWAY, the next award show is the VMAs. I see a big performance coming there, especially since we'll be a month into the album. I really need to see the imagery for this era. What is she giving with Renaissance. Are we going dark or are we heading towards the light. It wouldn't hurt her to actually amp the fans up a lil bit instead of being a deaf mute. But whatever. I just know I'm flipping out if we have to wait a whole month to hear from her.

But what ur complaining about is the same thing we are complaining about: Visibility and communication.

And if we'd get that, then obviously it might potentially also have a positive impact on the single/album rollout

I'm just wondering why she has all these social media platforms but isn't properly utilizing them. I would at least expect her to be reposting Tik Toks or something. I am happy there are very few surprises so far this era. And that video is gonna come when it comes. This week or next, I'm still going to be hyped up to see it because then we'll at least have a better understanding of her vibe this era.

 

And I'm really surprised at radio picking this up so fervently. Which is why I feel some of the Hive need to chill and breath. Let's be mad at real things. LIKE THIS DEAF MUTE.

Now the VR stuff I'm not putting past her. That would be really exciting and on brand for her. Maybe she's mute because she's rehearsing. But what. And where? Or maybe she's filming. But what and where?
