The Grammy voters are bitter, some of them straight up admitted they didn't vote for her because she wins too much. Harry's house winning over Renaissance is just... is there a diversity threshold

Is it a pro or a con if the only time the GP gets to see her on TV is when she loses AOTY :deadbanana4:

it's a pro, I think.

at the worst someone is going to think "she's so overrated anyway! she doesn't deserve it!" but her winning or not attending wasn't going to change that opinion.

or maybe someone will see her lose and then think "I guess her album wasn't good, I won't listen".

the positive about her losing and being there (if there is one) is that she is present and therefore on the mind of those watching (the reaction shots of the nominees are part of the shtick) and only furthers the "I can't believe she still hasn't won AOTY" or "She was snubbed!" rhetoric that probably has more lasting impact than someone simply winning and everyone being happy and moving on. I mean the most noteworthy thing about 25 winning was that it wasn't Lemonade, and that Adele devoted the majority of her speech to addressing this.

It's almost comparable to Susan Lucci losing Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the Daytime Emmy 21 times... it is more iconic and memorable to people than if she had won all 21 times, because it puts a sort of conflict into the equation that people then are waiting to resolve. There's an element of "loser" to it, but Susan was very much the soap opera queen, which is why her loses were all the more impactful/shocking to people.

but fave is going to be front row losing AOTY every time

She cant, you guys should know by now Bey thinks on behalf of herself and the women after her. She does not want to set a precedent like this that could ruin Grammy's for upcoming, young female R&B singers. She has to play the game in a more subtle way, which means getting MORE minorities and women on the GRAMMY voting committee so there is more balance (we know it is heavily white and male). She has also been on good terms with them for decades and is the most decorated artist ever, she wouldn't give sore loser.

So why didn't she submit the Cuff It remix, or AHAP remix to the grammys?

I love hearing all your well written thoughts on my subjects. Thank you everyone!!!! Very insightful especially @Cbreezy

With that said @ShouldersSideways mentioned that they’re certain the Carters distanced from Kanye. I actually think they’re still friends but on the LOW. They have no choice but to stay close or he will lash out again and air out all their dirty laundry. I believe they went to dinner with him a year ago in private but no pictures were seen. Kanye posted his review of Renaissance on instagram a few months after it came out so he doesn’t hate her like I’d expect him to if she completely cut him off. They (especially bey) like cbreezy said are very strategic about their publicity. I can’t imagine what Kanye would say next if they dropped him. I’m surprised people quickly forgot how he said Beyonce refused to perform unless she won the vma award for best video (formation) over Kanye and Drake. Which would make sense because Drake seemed to throw sly shots at Beyonce (and basically ever famous person tbh) since then even though he gave her the Heated sample. Even Jay liked an anti Drake tweet. Drake then boycotting the Grammys made me go hmmm. Maybe there’s more to it than we know. I do think you can cheat your way into winning at most award shows but the Grammys are 100% legit in the main categories imo.

lol not when...

  • The last Black woman to win AOTY was Lauryn Hill (25 years ago - will be 26 during the 2024 ceremony but we're manifesting a SZA - SOS win).
  • Bey is the most awarded artist in Grammy history and has ONE general field win.
  • Abel had one of the biggest songs/eras with 'Blinding Lights' and 'After Hours' and walked away with zero nominations.
  • Lizzo is the first Black woman to win Record of the Year since Whitney Houston in 1994.
  • The only female artists with multiple AOTY wins are white.

I want SZA to win AOTY but they are definitely going to give it to Blondie. But I’m also already annoyed at the thought of SZA fans using it to drag Bey :lmao:

crazy how every time an artist achieves something, their fans will weaponize it against Bey :deadbanana2:

The Renaissance snub makes my blood boil even more than the TPAB one.

Black excellence losing over literal piece of **** all over again.

is it really a Beyoncé "rollout" if it isn’t boring and uneventful ? :suburban:

The Bday and IASF rollouts were insanely good.

Well, let's not discuss the release of IIWAB and Single Ladies at the same time.

I remember someone posting on here not too long ago that they thought Beyonce and Boots didn't really get along. Is there any truth to this or are people just assuming that's the case since he didn't have any songs on her last two solo albums? Perhaps he was part of the recording process and his songs didn't make the cut? Which is what happened with Diplo and Ryan Tedder this go around (although their contributions could still make an appearance on Act 2).

no, boots threw shade after self-titled. he tweeted he would rather work with "real artists" around the time he was working with FKA twigs, after hive members asked if he was going to keep working with Bey. that put a bad taste in a lot of ppl's mouths. he always deletes his shady tweets so i have no idea if a screenshot even exists.

There were some sessions around 2015 however, because there were some tracks of his for Lemonade, but she never acknowledged him again after that. so it's safe to say she found out about it. he recently tweeted that their collaboration for *his* project "Dreams" isn't on streaming because Beyoncé said no.
