I’ve been catching up with DIL and curious about the consensus of the base.

It may not be the best, but definitely better than her DC output and IASF (maybe even 4).

It's pretty underrated even among her fanbase. 
 

Personally I love it, it's classic RnB. It's not her most cohesive but the singles are some of the best songs she's ever done and there's gems among the album cuts too. There's a few duds, namely Hip Hop star & Daddy, but outside of those it's great. 
 

I definitely prefer it over any DC album, IASF and I'd say it's almost as good as B'Day. Not as good as 4 (rearranged), but maybe better than the standard edition

Crazy In Love, Baby Boy, Be With You, Daddy, Yes and Signs.
 

Also, not me thinking Upgrade U is from debut lol

Not 4 and the SMN's album but I agree with the rest. I was just talking about it sometimes ago. It’s a good effort and it surprisingly aged and held up well.

Not the essential Hip Hop Star being named a dud when That’s How You Like It and that boring duet with Hottie are right there.

That's How You Like it is pretty weak too I agree, but The Closer I Get To You is sublime   Those who get it, get it.

I hate that he deletes his Tweets, and didn't think about screen-shotting, because he mentioned that someone (not sure if it was a film, TV show) had asked him & B to license "Never Gonna Love Again" (outtake from Lem - posted below) for a soundtrack or trailer (can't remember) recently - but the deal was cancelled once the song leaked in entirety.

And two beats that I'm assuming he expected her to jump at (one sounds like a bluesy-"Single Ladies"), that she rejected once Ghost/Haunted were brought up.

 

what i love about boots is he will make sure to give mama an electric guitar in the production and some indie rock vibes, he just gives her that dark, gritty, experimental sound that fits Bey like a glove (would’ve loved seeing him produce on Renaissance, he would’ve perfectly paired dance/house and rock to make a banger) 

I know we’ve had our laughs at this instrumental already but this description

When you finish playing a Beyoncé's song or album, you get all female RnB and black singers, on three generations too.

And some pop ones too. Ch... 

I just noticed it this week because for once I had the "replay the album" desactivated.

DIL is an r&b classic and one of her best albums no it’s true. Its better than 4 for me now that I’m older when I was younger I didn’t use DIL at all
