I still believe that Spotify hates her because just yesterday I played a Beyoncé mix and there were only 3 or 4 Beyoncé songs played in 30+ minutes (a remix of naughty girl, partition, can’t even remember what else :deadbanana4:) Instead a got a bunch of Aaliyah, Janelle Monae and some randoms.

Their algorithm doesn’t favor her at all.

I just hope she doesn’t go into hiding until 2025. Do we even have any idea where she’s been since the tour ended? Surely she is still not over-editing the movie

OOP.. I think you may be on to something and it's not only limited to spotify. I was listening to her station on pandora and I barely heard any of her music.

Not that hard.

It's so funny how *a**o* **i** will make an exponentially bigger bag than Neck's Dubai paycheck, effortlessly, simply by releasing music-related content for her fans' consumption instead of expired Pantene or repackaged Victoria's Secret body spray.

Like that girl didn't even need to go out of her way (such as learning a whole new routine to perform only once at a glorified ribbon-cutting for the 1% in an anti-LGBTQ slave-built city-state) to get her bag. She just hired a competent team to film and edit and performance she was already going to give, and said here you go fans eat good.

Not that hard.

She has the current highest-selling female tour of all time with basically a single image as promo.

At this point, she doesn't seem particularly desperate to earn money. The Hive will say "yes she does" because she does stuff like sell an expensive perfume, but will also complain how she hasn't promoted or even mentioned it yet.

I think as much, if not more, as she loves earning money, she loves creating. If she was worried about the way things sell, then I'd assume she'd actually do something to sell them other than letting each projects' associated channels do all the marketing, and do little, at that.

Being upset about the lack of promo is so tedious at this point. There must be something else to say, and if there is not, why repeat something what's been said for nearly a decade now?

Yes, we need to focus on the important things.

Lead singles rate when?

I don't care if we get the visuals anymore. I'd rather get new music. Videos for songs that came out a year and a half ago don't really intrigue me.

Honestly as tedious as that may be, it's more of a rewarding conversation than complaining about Parkwood not promoting.

I can’t believe VG is not even doing 100k a day. And other Ren’s songs as well.

no no, i still need to see the visual.

Has anyone here, even through massive promotional Hollywood campaigns, ever bought movie tickets more than a month in advance for something that you weren't already a fan of to begin with? And if so, what sold you? What was the secret marketing tool that got you to do this?

If we are talking about the general public, people generally don't plan so far in advance to go see a movie. They think "I'm interested in that film. We should go see that movie when it's out!" not "I'm interested in that film. I am going to buy us tickets 42 days in advance." A movie ticket is very much a commodity that people expect to be able to purchase AT the theatre, if not that then with a few days of planning.

As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the perfection that is Me, Myself & I, are there any other Beyonce songs that remind you of that record (similar vibe/style)?

For me the lack of promo is not as much an issue as the presentation of Beyoncé’s the artist since TG

Spoiler

and the refusal to simply release singles.

Every communication or marketing aspect look amateurish, lazy and sometimes borderline unprofessional. She is definitely presented as premium and luxury but the marketing and communication  don’t go with a luxury brand. Not like during ST and Lemonade. Although she was a major saboteur, things were clean and neat.

Things have always been so organised, so professional, that everything around her now seems to be run with very little professionalism and investment. Nothing she has done since The Gift sans the music/tour is worthy of THE BEYONCÉ, at least not the one the ST heralded. In particular, the communication aspect.

But it’s not just her tbh, Chloé is just as awfully presented. No direction, no professionalism, nothing is tight.

The music remains fantastic so there’s that. But will it endure with the way it’s treated? That is not sure. Whether it is on Spotify, Deezer or AM, her most played  songs are from the 00’s and 4, what they have in common is that they were exposed to the GP and not just the fans.  But anyway, only time will tell.

All of this.

The trailer for the tour film - a tour that is supposed to be a celebration, happiness, about music - contains very little music, is dark, moody, and total antithetical to the show itself. Where's the party?

the trailer is not dark at all lol, it shows a bunch of excited fans partying and laughing and even opens with her saying "im most free when i'm performing. i wanted this to be a place where everyone is free." even the doc clips are her smiling with her kids or laughing.

i think it could use more music, but to say it's not reminiscent of the show's aesthetic is a bit much lol

Omg, I've been unable to log in for like two weeks...

Looks like I missed nothing though lmao

My only complaint is that we don't get to really see or hear what her thought process is behind some of the decisions she makes anymore. I love all the behind the scenes stuff she used to release, all the gems she would drop in interviews. I'm hoping this film sheds some light on some of the confusing decisions she's made this go around. Everything is so cryptic these days, which doesn't work for everything. I understand her not wanting to do interviews anymore, and she's earned the right to do whatever she wants, but there are still ways she/her team can connect with the general public.

agree. i miss that everything she did used to have a documentary attached. i would've loved to see how she planned the super bowl performances, both in 2013 and right after Formation dropped in 2016.

Just unfollowed Parkwood. I'm over the constant teasing. Anything worth knowing will be posted here anyway.

this is exactly what I was broadly replying to in my comment above.

This take to me seems very foolish and perhaps doesn't even suggest they know much about Beyoncé since 2013...her desires, her motivations, her moves...

"She doesn't market to the general public". What a brilliant observation! I wonder how they came up with that? Maybe when she surprise dropped an album in the middle of the night without any notice or promo a decade ago? Or when the following year she quietly uploaded a Nicki remix to SoundCloud and not for sale? Or when she debuted Lemonade on a television network you need to pay to have, or when she didn't put Lemonade (her most celebrated work to date) on streaming for three years? Or was it when she announced her first solo single in 6 years via an IG bio? When she released 0 music videos and did 0 performances for nearly a year (and still hasn't if we aren't including her private tour as a performance)...

My problem with these takes is it doesn't figure what she's TRYING to do, it just counts up what she's NOT doing and faults her for it. It presumes Parkwood either doesn't know how to research, doesn't know what other people are doing successfully to access the GP, or even what Beyoncé herself has done in the past to do so, and instead assumes Parkwood thinks they are reaching the GP. Not liking Parkwood's choices is one thing. But marketing doesn't always need to mean reaching for the GP. What if...*gasp* she intends to only market to her super fans?

Having a film in the biggest theater chain in america is marketing to the general public. Having it premiere across the world at all the major screens implies they want to make money off this, there are actual indie films who get waaaaaay less screens than this. This is clearly to make money so to not market to the public would be foolish
