Her staying power and savvy navigation of an industry all too willing to dispose of artists must be studied. Must be. 

 

Post-40, she's still seen as everything to everyone and THE gold standard. Crucially, she's still considered "cool" (rather than an aunty legacy act) which gives her a lot of cultural capital in the contemporary climate.

 

It's as if she's carefully embraced the smart moves of the superstars before her AND avoided their pitfalls to ensure her vitality at an age and stage where they had either started to wane or fast-forwarded to "legacy-act status". Bey is STILL cool, hip, and current.

 

Again, it should be studied.

Yeah, also it can’t be generic outside of the outro because she changed the whole demo into an anticipation of the climax. There’s a special beat change that heralds the putto that is repeated, same as the words in the outre that are decimated and called on throughout the song. It’s very well built.

And I really think you remember things wrong. Despite the most polarising, grating lead of her career, RTW, that turned people off the album, it still debuted with over 300K (despite leaking a whole month before) and became her first album to spend more than one week at the top of BB200. Because of 1+1’s performance and how praised the music was by the people who illegally downloaded it. That is also when critics and the GP started to take her very seriously with Countdown and 1+1 deemed as very impressive musically.
 

It was also the first time some indie critics ever reviewed any of her albums or MPG from her generation. And in France, it was the first time one the most respected newspaper critic ever reviewed a popular girl album and they gave her a good score. It was significant here. It also ended the year as the most illegally downloaded album. The album was loved, respected and opened the way for ST to have the massive acclaim it had.

the tea is the state of the world in late-stage capitalism and how bleak the future looks for so many people have convinced many workers that they too can get lucky, famous and rich if they post content on the internet... people post the stupidest **** striving to go viral. replicating whatever already is viral comes with that territory — one video using "CUFF IT" goes viral, then it spreads like a wildflower.

 

it's just another distraction for the people.

People already forgot we are coming back from a near 3 years pandemic? some people have traumas and trying to distract themselves from crap and however they do that then it's alright. Music has always been an escape and Tik Tok trends are not hurting anyone plus Bey's music has gone viral non stop thanks to Tik Tok. Only her haters are seething from this and it wont stop so get used to it lol
