Those were not stans. Those were casual fans at best or people who wanted to drag or wanted retweets. And those tweets were ignorant. Moreover Twitter is a cesspool of idiocy tbqh. 
But here people loved it. Otherside, Bigger, Find Your Way Back, Already and even sometimes Water were amongst the most praised songs in this thread pre-Renaissance. How did you miss that? Being disappointed about how she treated the era is not being disappointed about the music.

Well she did return to form, success wise. 4 was an underperformance, her first ever and ST was a resounding success because 4 left such a great impression that people were starving for her music. And I really think you remember things wrong. Despite the most polarising, grating lead of her career, RTW, that turned people off the album, it still debuted with over 300K (despite leaking a whole month before) and became her first album to spend more than one week at the top of BB200. Because of 1+1’s performance and how praised the music was by the people who illegally downloaded it. That is also when critics and the GP started to take her very seriously with Countdown and 1+1 deemed as very impressive musically.
 

It was also the first time some indie critics ever reviewed any of her albums or MPG from her generation. And in France, it was the first time one the most respected newspaper critic ever reviewed a popular girl album and they gave her a good score. It was significant here. It also ended the year as the most illegally downloaded album. The album was loved, respected and opened the way for ST to have the massive acclaim it had.

Lemonade is a 10/10 album, but it's just like a movie or a book to me, it has a narrative and I like listening to the songs in order. It's difficult to throw them on a playlist for me, aside from Formation and maybe a couple others.

 

The Gift is phenomenal, her most underrated commercially. I also love Everything is Love. She hasn't made a lackluster project since whatever the hell was the I Am.. side of Sasha Fierce album

I Miss You is literally a perfect song. I listened to it again today, for the first time in probably almost a decade and I can't believe how fast the time has flown! That song, and the album in general tbh, reminds me so much of the happiest/carefree times of my life. It's insane to think how much my life has changed, and how much I've achieved within that time. It feels like it was just yesterday, and a million years ago.

Heated is a perfect example of how she can turn any demo into a smash. The way she heard that 2016 demo and transformed it into one of her  most energetic and frantic tracks... her studio trickery deserves to be studied.

So, none of the current MPG and current releases managed to outdo RENAISSANCE first week numbers besides Taylor and Adele? 

 

Feels like last decade again when none of the girls managed to outdo 4's first week numbers. 

 

If only she releases her vinyls, that would be an easy 400K..

I hope Single Ladies & Irreplaceable could do 400K someday while IIWAB/RTW/DrInLove and Formation should do around 300K.

I mean, that’s not a surprise lol. Adele, B, and Taylor are the top album sellers and have been. The other girls are singles girls
