ADELAIDE????? OMFG.

My beautiful mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness last year and it has always been a dream of mine to see Bey with her. I really hope she starts with Aus. That way I can see her with mum and then fly to Sydney and do the Beyhive pit.

I hope that happens for you. :hughard:

Thanks for the love. Bring on the announcement.

Visuals tying in with the tour announcement makes sense based on past history, one thing she never messes up is her tour announcements. Theres always a massive push behind them. Since the Superbowl is out of the question, she has to do something else.

Now what is this?

Now we’re comparing her to international football players? With the irony being that everyone commenting that she isn’t as famous (a) knows her and (b) is using her as the sole example while using multiple footballers and clubs to make their point :coffee2:

It seems a Hive put their foot in their mouth. I don't understand why there was a need to bring up Beyoncé to make such an erroneous point.

Football is crazy popular, just see how many followers Ronaldo has.

OT -

Beyonce snatching up new fans with Generation Alpha.

I haven't hit 30 yet.

I hate that my mind is wired this way (because women empowerment and all that), but I can't help but be tickled (both positively and negatively) about this Rihanna Super Bowl news. Specifically in relation to Bey.

The thing with Rih is that we (as The Hive) have always known her as #2. Just when shaking out the criteria for Queendom that truly matters (talent, abilities, game-changing moves).

The thing is, in this streaming/social media led climate, I always sensed that Rih would end up levelling the playing field with Bey as the criteria for Queendom (in the eyes of the GP) has changed. Somehow by becoming a billionaire businesswoman (outside of music) and not releasing since 2016, the popularity and hype around Rihanna "the musician" is ironically much higher than ever. The streaming scene is ready-made for her too (given that she's never been huge pure sales seller) and she will inevitably use the Super Bowl as a huge vehicle for R9. She literally doesn't miss when it comes to handling her music right. She'll drop the right single, at the right time and do ALL the things to make the SB work to her benefit.

Flip over to our girl, who drops arguably the best album of her career, literally has the floor to herself (no competition culturally speaking), and does have things coming, but essentially isn't seizing the entirety of this current moment. At least not yet.

I do love how "everyone can win" the industry is nowadays, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking there won't be huge comparisons between Bey and Rih incoming. Bey has always had the "bigger seller" and "bigger touring act" thing to her benefit. But I'm just saying to brace oneself for another set of debates and delusional hot takes, especially if like I predict: Rih delivers big first week numbers (bigger than Ren) and b) does decent enough at Halftime (which GP will likely hype up to be "one of the best ever".)

More than anything, I just hope Bey swoops in with her moment/s asap. Because while "everyone can win", that's only true if they snatch their shine when it's most advantageous. Bey's back won't be so against the wall (hypothetically speaking) if she owns the next few months in a huge way.

FYI: I really like Rih and am excited for her show. This just an observation in relation to Bey and the long-standing interwoveness of their narratives.

My God Cbreezy, why are u like that? :rip:

Taylor is coming in a month, Adele is arguably coming before christmas with the mission to redeem herself + all the christmas songs.

Rih is coming beginning of 2023.

Like, Bey already will lose in comparison anyway. Enjoy the project and thats it. Bey has no fighting spirit in her bones left. Its all just "art" and "self-expression" with Bey. She doesnt care about anyone aside from herself. So stop making this a thing where Bey will compete. She wont, shed rather be unsuccessful than do more than 2 promo slots for the rest of her life :rip:

LOL. I hear you.

I totally disagree that Bey has no fight left, though. I actually think part of her envelope-pushing is directly attached to being VERY competitive. Still. On the basis of being a Black woman (who principally makes R&B), she knows she'll never be the top seller. So, her Queendom is absolutely about / defined by being better than everyone else. Not just on stage. But in terms of the scale of her moves (visual albums, record breaking). She's not letting that up. (Let's not derail this into our differing takes on the delay with the Ren visuals).

That said, I do feel she is more settled into the achievements she already has (rather than hugely guided by a need to keep running at 100mph).

Still, I don't see a Bey whose drive for excellence and elevation defines her Queendom being content having the crown she's coveted so much being snatched. Or even perceived to be snatched.

It's time to spend less time on ATRL & TWITTER. I know I felt the same way too. I hate to say this but all this stan wars are crazy. You just can't enjoy music anymore due to this never ending comparison;

Stop falling for the haters; Beyoncé is doing great, REN is still sitting in the Top 10, isn't that good? The haters swore that B is doing 100-200K because of TG and here she is with 300K despite doing bad on streaming (and absolutely no hype for B7). Mind you Gaga did 270K with more hypes post ASIB; Drake's album is tumbling down the chart like a rock in the UK; Kendrick's too; and Adele. Cherry on top we have BMS hitting #1 with 10 weeks top ten and CI is still climbing and Halloween is coming (AS). Taylor last multiweeks top ten was...? And Gaga's last multiweek album top 10 was...?

Now as for Adele, she's declining and Rih is doing good but with all the hypes, one would expect she will deliver a spectacular show with great singing or else the GP is going to come for her (FERGIE/MAROON 5/ JT)

Last but not least, she survives The Spice Girl/Britney/NSYNC slayage; Fergie/Gwen/Nelly/Usher's prime time; Gaga's/Katy's/Rih's domination; Hurricane Adele and Drake/Cardi/Bad Bunny/Billie & Olivia's time.

Beyoncé and Rihanna comparisons are inevitable.

What’s important is not falling into messy traps created by third party fanbases. A lot of Hive and Navy users here are hybrids fans of the other.

I actually agree (about trying not fall into the stan war trap).

But I must make clear: I also think Ren is doing AMAZING (commercially and culturally). Knowing visuals are coming is the icing on the cake for me.

I was moreso talking about bracing for the hot takes from even "reputable" pundits.

I point to the nonsensical debate about Chris Brown v MJ. Actual notable names (of influence) were saying CB and citing things like his ability to paint as the yardstick of his artistry over MJ. Craziness.

Let Rih's sales skew anywhere near or above Bey's with Ren and brace for notable figures hailing her the new queen (simply on the merit of how interwoven their names have been...for better or worse over the years).

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? Of course not. Female artists have and will continue to coexist. But in being real, we're on a stan forum and we're all (I guess to different degrees) invested in how our fave is perceived by the wider audience even if it doesn't directly inform our own opinion.

Beyoncé has the biggest tour of her career coming. She isn't bothered by the comparisons and her husband probably even hit up Rih for the Super Bowl. There's a reason why she's holding onto the visuals and we still have no clue about how ACT II/III will play out. But tbh, I'm pretty over the visuals and curious to hear the other acts. I feel like I'm getting too old and just want to enjoy the music + see her live in person and call it a day. :rip:

Nobody outside Twitter care about the MJ vs Chris Brown thing :deadbanana4:

B will always known for her talent and her singing ability. In Asia, she will always be known as strong/talented big voice diva no matter how 'bad' her sales are. This is why the Korean still loves her (she's top 10 most streamed international act there on Melon) and this is why we have the Korean/Japanese/Asia/Malaysia/Filipino Beyoncé. I believe due to her talent she's also one of the most beloved in the UK/Australia and of course Brazil and South Africa. Although most of her sales come from the US, strangely that same country that hated her most.

objectively the album is doing well and she has two hits and a handful of popular memes from it

it's just frustrating to always be in the dark about what's coming next and when, wish she would drop the whole mysterious and elusive act

This is the worst era I’ve ever seen. And y’all get so upset when people point that out. How do you drop an album and don’t do anything for months. Great there’s a tour coming, tours always accompany an album. Not even a single visual. This era sucks. And the worst part about it, is the fact that this is her best album! Miss me with the, “she’s in a different place” “she has kids now” those are cop outs. Especially given the fact that visuals were filmed. I need answers now!

Nah I feel you and know where your coming from. The average troll will run with the narrative of “The Hive got humbled, Rih is back” bs.

Best case scenario is not letting it get the best of you. We know what Bey is capable of … like we know shes heavily acclaimed, respected, great performer, and etc. that’s why some of us be dragging her ass during this era cause we know she makes an impact/big splashes. Even as a Navy member, mfs did not give Rih her flowers til she basically stopped music. We know visuals are coming, we know 2 other acts are coming, and huge production tour next year. We got this. :hughard:

This prob why I haven’t got upset at the lack of visuals. Frustrating, yes but the music was my main issue. Thankfully I can stream REN and check for other artists I like in the meantime while waiting for the visuals+tour.
