I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

I hope she waits until next year for the album.

Then again that would suppose she's planning to do something but I want Ren to breathe.

Also with the tour coming next year, I wonder how that'll work. Adding songs as the tour goes will probably be a strategy.

Nah I feel you and know where your coming from. The average troll will run with the narrative of “The Hive got humbled, Rih is back” bs.

Best case scenario is not letting it get the best of you. We know what Bey is capable of … like we know shes heavily acclaimed, respected, great performer, and etc. that’s why some of us be dragging her ass during this era cause we know she makes an impact/big splashes. Even as a Navy member, mfs did not give Rih her flowers til she basically stopped music. We know visuals are coming, we know 2 other acts are coming, and huge production tour next year. We got this. :hughard:

Already gotten texts from friends saying Rihanna’s show will be better. My girlfriends are trash.

This is the worst era I’ve ever seen. And y’all get so upset when people point that out. How do you drop an album and don’t do anything for months. Great there’s a tour coming, tours always accompany an album. Not even a single visual. This era sucks. And the worst part about it, is the fact that this is her best album! Miss me with the, “she’s in a different place” “she has kids now” those are cop outs. Especially given the fact that visuals were filmed. I need answers now!

well I sure hope so since it's been 10 years since bey's halftime. pyro, camera techniques, overall technology have evolved immensely since.

tbh bey's stage production wasn't that impressive. it was mostly the stage presence she had, the vocals, and choreography. similar to Prince in the way the performer is what made it so iconic and revered. that's why she's always sitting at the top with Prince whenever those best lists come out even though Madonna had the better production a year prior.

Maybe cause I love both since they debut, but its so annoying when mfs compare and contrast hitmakers vs artistically-culturally driven artists. Its just a matter of who like what. :michael:

Yeah I think Bey’s HT performances will always mark as their moments in time, and it will be Homecoming that stands as her most majorly memorable live showcase. Although there is still time and potential for that to change of course.

I do wonder what a halftime show for her now would look like had she never done it before. It honestly would be incredibly difficult to put together a set list without sacrificing some great music.

What kills me the most about the stan wars, is how much the hive participates in the mess.  I follow a lot of hive on twitter, and I am constantly seeing arguments about Rihanna, Nicki, and GaGa.  I just want to unfollow everyone and read tweets about flowers and moon phases.  I'm sick of it.

Rihanna's show will be highly anticipated and I'm sure it will be a fun show.  But no one with a brain would fix their fingers to say Rihanna show will be beter than Beyonce's. Sis ain't got the skill. People will definitely bop to her hits, which should be enough for her to pass.

I'm just over the comparisons.  They don't compare.  I don't even engage, and I wish hive wouldn't either.

Well Rihanna is more likeable than Bey and we now objectivity is tainted by likeable, especially when it comes to art.

Her fault for being such a recluse.

I've always HATED how people have pitted Bey and Rih against each other.

I'm super excited for her show, and I'm sure it'll be amazing.  Her catalog is crazy impressive

Stop bringing the other girls up.

People's minds always go directly to Bey when anyone has something going on for them and the Hive shouldn't engage.

Everything and everyone is always better and more successful than Bey and by far according to social media, every day there's an argument about everyone and their mother being better vocalists than her. That tells you all there's to know.

Bey is currently standing over RENAISSANCE, holding a pillow over its face until it suffocates and dies.

Yes, I know. It's quite sad what's happening with this era. But let’s hope some songs impose themselves like CI did.

AS much as she's disliked and people want to "humble" her, she also has amazing star quality. That plus Hive being so hard and die sometimes create those ubiquitous fun moments where even flip flop ******* want to join in the fun lol. Let's hope we get that despite of her.

Beyoncé will always be the standard to what a lot of female popstars inspire/aim to be. The comparisons have been nonstop since debut; which is why we collectively shouldn’t fall for the bs traps.

When we fall for the traps, it makes us look bitter.

People dont wanna admit it, but this has hurt Bey tbh.

Like, Rihannas tweet being over a million in 4 hours is.... meanwhile the REN tweet. :deadvision:

The whole "focus on the music first" was nonsense of course, it was just an excuse for her to stay in bed and then go on vacation :bibliahh:

I used to not want to admit this a few years ago however no lies were told here. Fans can pretend Bey acting like an “untouchable queen” is what got her to the top when in reality it was her music/art. Her becoming more recluse turned people away or they became disinterested for the most part. You can’t deny the numbers/streaming/hits.

This as well! I’ve come to really love Rih and her catalog is undeniable. She will kill it. Her vanguard had to be spread throughout the whole night because of how many hits. And it was the same night as Bey’s lemonade performance and she held her own. Two queens.

I hate that my mind is wired this way (because women empowerment and all that), but I can't help but be tickled (both positively and negatively) about this Rihanna Super Bowl news. Specifically in relation to Bey.

The thing with Rih is that we (as The Hive) have always known her as #2. Just when shaking out the criteria for Queendom that truly matters (talent, abilities, game-changing moves).

The thing is, in this streaming/social media led climate, I always sensed that Rih would end up levelling the playing field with Bey as the criteria for Queendom (in the eyes of the GP) has changed. Somehow by becoming a billionaire businesswoman (outside of music) and not releasing since 2016, the popularity and hype around Rihanna "the musician" is ironically much higher than ever. The streaming scene is ready-made for her too (given that she's never been huge pure sales seller) and she will inevitably use the Super Bowl as a huge vehicle for R9. She literally doesn't miss when it comes to handling her music right. She'll drop the right single, at the right time and do ALL the things to make the SB work to her benefit.

Flip over to our girl, who drops arguably the best album of her career, literally has the floor to herself (no competition culturally speaking), and does have things coming, but essentially isn't seizing the entirety of this current moment. At least not yet.

I do love how "everyone can win" the industry is nowadays, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking there won't be huge comparisons between Bey and Rih incoming. Bey has always had the "bigger seller" and "bigger touring act" thing to her benefit. But I'm just saying to brace oneself for another set of debates and delusional hot takes, especially if like I predict: Rih delivers big first week numbers (bigger than Ren) and b) does decent enough at Halftime (which GP will likely hype up to be "one of the best ever".)

More than anything, I just hope Bey swoops in with her moment/s asap. Because while "everyone can win", that's only true if they snatch their shine when it's most advantageous. Bey's back won't be so against the wall (hypothetically speaking) if she owns the next few months in a huge way.

FYI: I really like Rih and am excited for her show. This just an observation in relation to Bey and the long-standing interwoveness of their narratives.

Nah, Rih is about to BODY Beyonce for the first time and its gonna be obvious too.

Streaming is going to work for Rihanna IMMENSLY, and prove that the right fan engagement works.

And no one in here can use any of the following excuses: racism, sexism, colorism, appeal, none of that because Bey = Rih to most casual listeners.

Sis dropped the ball and that is that.

Say what you want, but I didn't see the same excitement for REN as I'm seeing for Rih.

Beyonce is finally, truly, out of touch.

We said it during Self-Titled, but it's gotten so bad now it feels like she's Zeus and we are not allowed on Mt. Olympus.

Taylor is doing all her promo for the most part through TikTok and it’s working. She’s actually APPEARING in the videos and each week there’s a new episode of her disclosing a track on her album. The engagement>>>

All she had to do was prerecord videos . Who would have thought. There wasn’t much effort into it and she didn’t have to even leave her house

One of them have 106 mil followers compared to 15 millions secondly, this is the superbrowl. It is a big deal. Bigger than an album announcement. Jlo and shakira literally has the most watched performance of all time…

Rihanna is about to use the Super Bowl the right way. I bet she won’t hide her single either. :gaycat2:

Beyoncé’s moment of peak excitement was ST and she made history. She can't recreate it every time.

Renaissance is not a comeback, Beyoncé wasn't gone anywhere. She was very active musically, just not on her solo material.
