There isn't even enough reviews on Metacritic to get a score for her latest album, that right there tells you the level of lashings don't compare to what most pop girls have gone through.

Midnight Sky, Prisoner, Flowers, River, End of the World, Bass Persuades feel very much in the same realm of music the other pop girls make. Maybe it just isn't as good or as authentic I don't know, but it's not like she's making some non-commercial, experimental music. She's making pop music.

She's not really a threat to anyone's faves here, so she's pretty safe.

There are people calling her a flop everywhere, here and on twitter.

Anyway, I don't see her fans setting her up against others so that's why there's no stans war.

She flops more often than she finds success?

It's not like she slayed hard music-wise back in the day (apart from 2-3 singles) for her to get so much hate now that she is flopping! Not to mention that flopping is the norm for her, not an exception.

She has already been dragged several times (Can't be Tamed, Younger Now) and she came back with a career defining smash hit every time. The girls understand the statistics. Her career has always come in random spikes as opposed to consistent success.

Besides, who would even drag her? She's never been MPG enough to be targeted by the hive, monsters etc, she's been around too long to be mixed up in the Sabrina/Olivia/Dua conversation, she's an actually interesting artist so the swifties don't feel any threat to their fave's manufactured mass appeal, the Arianators are peaceful and never had beef with Miley... so who's left? Selena and Demi stans? There are 20 of them in total and they probably know their girls are even more over than Miley.

She doesn't have a rival to be pitted against

Well, other than Flowers, she hasn't had a very successful moment since Bangerz which was 13 years ago. It's like if someone dragged Nelly Furtado for flopping in 2020. It wouldn't make sense, she hasn't been a major pop star in years and no one outside the gay stans and ex Disney stans still takes her that seriously. It also helps her that her stans aren't very involved in stan wars so no one is going to bring up her underwhelming stats. I say this with no shade intended, she's a lovely lady with a good voice, but not many people really care.

This is definitely an under-estimation. She hasn't had a huge era, sure, but Plastic Hearts has over 4 billion streams and Nothing Breaks Like a Heart was huge outside the US and continues to get big streams. She's definitely not post-Loose Nelly Furtado and she's taken more seriously now than when she was more successful.

She's a legend and she's very beloved. I don't give a flying **** whether her music appeal to the masses or not, at the end of the day I know that once I play her album I'll enjoy some good, high quality music with solid lyrics. That's what she does. She doesn't chase the success, unlike Katy. It sometimes finds her sometimes doesn't, but one thing you're sure about is that she's amazing in her craft.

For example, Xtina stans were always super aggressive, it was Xtina vs. The World at some point

And Katy obviously ended some late 2000's relic so she has a dedicated following praying for her to flop

Well her last album wasn't certified anywhere. Not gold, not silver, not diamond. Good for her, I truly didn't know Plastic Hearts had done somewhat well, but the fact is that Miley just isn't a big success and hasn't been a great success in a while. Sure, perhaps critics are taking her more seriously as an artist, but I think the thread asks why people don't drag her for her underwhelming numbers and I think that's the reason. If she had been doing Future Nostalgia numbers or Sour numbers or Thank You, Next or Billie's numbers these past ten years she would be getting mentioned more in stan wars but stans tend to ignore the less successful musicians, especially if they've had multiple flops.

This too. If she had a DMF kind of stan who would occasionally drag other musicians for giggles, especially if it was the more successful ones, it would make stans bring up her numbers and mention how she's flopping. But I haven't even seen her stans go up against the Demi or Selena stans as they used to some years back. Which I guess is another thing about flopping consistently, your stans become more humble and don't go poking as much anymore. Probably what will happen with the Katy stans after one or two more flop eras.
