The untimely death of Aaliyah left a lot of people in shock and grief on this day 25 years ago. This thread is just to memorialize her and for you all to share your favorite songs/performances/moments of her. Thank you. Here's my favorite song of hers:

Her discography is immaculate. She came out swinging with a mega bop and did not release a single bad album during her lifetime, even my own fave cannot relate. Aaliyah is one of my favorite albums of all time, the quality of that record is insane.

My favorite song of hers is We Need A Resolution, but I also want to highlight these album tracks.

Been thinking about her a lot today. I still remember when the news broke that evening even though I was very little at the time. RIP to a true legend.

I will always remember the first time I heard Try Again. It gave me chills. Sadly I was only 5 when Aaliyah passed, so I didn't really get a chance to properly enjoy her music while she was still here. But discovering her albums, music videos, and fashion/style throughout my early teens was a formative moment for me. She was the ultimate it girl. It breaks my heart that she's been gone longer than we had her... I will always think about what she might have done next. But her impact and influence is still alive to this day, and that's a blessing. RIP.

Still so infuriating that an irresponsible pilot robbed of us one of the great artists of our time. Her legacy will always live on.

An icon. I remember thinking her tracks were some of the most interesting on the radio.

Online there used to be some conspiracy from some unhinged folks that Aaliyah was killed for Beyoncé to succeed.

Aaliyah's impact in the music industry is undeniable and probably one of the most powerful legacies to date. She left us at her peak, and maybe, that's the most beautiful thing she could achieve.

I remember when she died, I was only 10 and I was legit traumatized. I cried a lot, and I was scared of going on planes after that.

Then Left Eye (who I loved even more than Aaliyah) died on April 25 the following year and I cried even more. I always thought it was weird how so many artists seemed to die on the 25th after that.

But yes. Looking back, 22 is so extremely young. Aaliyah was so otherworldly. RIP.

Music aside, her legacy on fashion and persona always had such a lasting impact. She reminds me of Rihanna in that regard, seemingly loved by everybody, had that "it" & cool factor etc.
