I really don't even think I'm listening to the same songs as some ATRLers anymore... rip that, or the original Confessions era is the biggest revisionist history of all time. Because I can tell everyone for a fact that that album was not adored end to end on first listen by the fanbase.

Love Sensation is better than at least Isaac, Push, Like It or Not and maybe Sorry (sorry, I've never liked that song). And seeing it performed live in the middle of Times Square just now confirmed just how good this song is.

I can see why fans were disappointed by Bring Your Love, but these other two songs are so good. I just don't get it.

I don't think she chased the idea to beat first COADF which is already OG and hard to top gaycat2 She just using same aesthetics and vibes but with different direction and sound coffee2

A retread can never be better than the original, was Pink Friday 2 better than Pink Friday? Was Marshal Mathers LP 2 better than Marshal Mathers?

love sensation alone ended that raggedy ol' thing (except Pray Together aka the best song of all time).

Wait tell us more.. what was the common take on the OG back then?

Have you heard the 2 songs that has recently been dropped? psyduck

have you heard hung up, sorry and get together. Madonna or anyone will never topped Confessions 1. Like

Based on the singles, no. But maybe the album has some gems in it

Hung up streams are higher than ever doing around 800k daily I think this little hero of a song will keep on living no matter how Grillfessions 2 is

Confessions I isn't even all that, its b side is full of meh songs and tepid lyrics like "I like New York / Other places make me feel like a dork" rip...

In what way are songs like I Love New York better than all of these 3 songs, specially I Feel So Free lmao.

Y'all are trying way too hard.

This is actually very true. In fact most criticism from this era is very similar to the original COADF from her fanbase. The difference is that the GP loved and embraced the original album to the point that it wasn't just a gay event.

The criticism of her vocal production? She got it back then. Hung Up doesn't sound like anything she was doing on American life vocally speaking. How she should tone down her image? That was happening in 2005. I remember the Hung Up music video being considered basic for her standards and for a 1st single video (specially following Frozen, Music, the original American Life), i remember people complaining some songs were very samey (it's already happening in 2026).

The only difference from both eras? The GP was here for her in 2005. And in 2026 they just don't give a **** and Madonna isn't really part of the current pop main girls conversation, that much is obvious. The USA already left her by 2005 but now the world is checking in but not a lot of people is consuming her music.

That said...her career was never this healthy since probably the Superbowl in 2012 so this era is already feeling like a win in my book.

doesn't sound like it so far, but it's shaping up to easily be her best work since that album and i've really liked everything so far.

it's kinda giving Mariah's Caution where i'm not going "wow this is her greatest album of all time," but it's a late career gem that easily fits in with her best work even if it's not quite head of the table if that makes sense.

It will end the legacy of original one. This is gonna be her Folie à Deux

even i wasn't there for confessions and i know even the weakest track (i love new york) can't be topped ahh

that being said, i love all these songs more than confessions i but i didn't grow up w/confessions. the production is timeless though and considering someone messed up with queen's vocals and made them sound LQ, it's already losing doc

This is about to be Madonna's worst album IMO, so not even a little. She really should maybe just stop after this.

So you're judging an entire 16 track album based on 3 songs?

and how does this affect you (or any other hater) in any way though? If you don't like her music, just ignore. It's really quite simple.

Let's revisit this thread after the video. The album is going to start making more sense once you hear more of the snippets. I guarantee this is not an album full of smash singles. It's meant to be a true house club album this time, and frankly, the Madonna gays and I left the other night saying we think this may end up being better than the first. It's ultimately going to come down to taste, but I've always wanted her to go this direction.

Is this gif for real? Did she really to this?

From what I've heard so far, no. But half of Confessions I wasn't particularly good and if she had released a few of those tracks before the album dropped I'd have thought the same thing before hearing the first four tracks on release day.

Hypothetically, she could be hiding a Hung Up, Sorry, Get Together, and Future Lovers on the album but we've been saying that since MDNA and no, she really does tend to release the better songs up front or at least all as singles by the end of the album campaign.
