What does everyone think of the subreddit r/popheads and its members? I'm curious

too woke

I hate them almost as much as /r/manass Both very pretentious

It has Janelle Monae as a mod so it is automatically better

The admins/mods and the way it's being managed totally SUCKS there because the rules are too strict that you almost literally CAN'T discuss anything other than new releases which is so annoying.

Also I feel like age demographics there are worse than ATRL

It's alright. The rules are definitely too strict, but I like it better than Popculturechat and Fauxmoi.

I feel like everyone in those subs are middle aged millennials.

I went on a rabbit hole and basically all Reddit is ran by 5 people who control every subreddit in existence

Like these psychotic ass millennials created the first social media website ever to have 1%ers and elite just cause they're bored and 40

so many demonic vibes i never stepped on it again

used to be cool before they banned images (and me)

makes sense because there's a clear monoculture on that site which is very rare in this day and age especially for a site that large

ot: no they're annoying. I agree with the user that said they're like PopJustice, too confident and over-serious in their own opinions without having actual discussion to back it up

I discovered it in 2016 when it was still small and it was my main source of music news for years, but as it grew the discussions got more basic and now it's basically a generic GP sub. I never visit it anymore.

Ironically I used to lurk on ATRL in the 2010s whenever guest access opened, but I never made an account because I thought the people here were too mean spirited

Average user: "looking to get into Rihanna's catalogue but don't know where to start", "I used to only listen to punk but I'm expanding my horizons!". Poptimism ****** the vibe up. Gatekeeping isn't only snobbery, it has a function, it's an essential part of any community & the issue over there is half the people have no clue what they're talking about yet insist on talking anyway. People here are v savant like when it comes to their pop culture knowledge & if they aren't, people let em know. Idk what malevolent force in the universe inspires a grown ass, often straight, man to decide on a whim to listen to 1 Sabrina Carpenter album & fancy himself a pophead but it's gotta stop. These people think this is a low barrier to entry hobby which is true in the sense you only need time, enthusiasm & curiosity for music. But most don't even have that & at that point, I rly don't get it. Most of the comments are so hive minded. You can tell people post whatever they need to for karma & it's no skin off their back bc they had no thoughts of their own to begin with anyway!
