Songs that saved your life

Featured Replies

I know "saved your life" sounds intense, but I've been really sad lately and I'm looking for the kind of music that actually heals something in you. I remember when I was 18 and going through it, there was one song that genuinely helped me make it through. What are the songs that "saved" you (or got you through your darkest moments)? If you feel comfortable, share why.

[Insert that one TikTok of the swiftie wailing hearing Taylor playing exile from outside the stadium]

There's this verse from the song Tracks/Tall Bodies by Chelsea Wolfe that hit me like a bus when I was deeply depressed and it somehow gave me hope:

"It's a system we're up against / We wear it on our shoulders, someday we'll win"

"We could be two straight lines in a crooked world they've created"

I don't even know how to explain it. It was like something shifted for me when I discovered that album & that particular song.

And or course, the entirety of Tidal by Fiona Apple, especially Sullen Girl. And Live Through This, by Hole.

Desired Constellation by Björk comes to mind as well.

Brandy - Right Here (Departed)

Brandy - A Capella (Something's Missing)

Brandy - Long Distance

Brandy - Human

When I was a depressed teen, Brandy's Human album got me through the days.

Madonna's Ray of Light album. Sometimes we need a bit of faith and spirituality so we can just believe, and this album helps me with that.

Don't know much about that but every time I experience a new Gaga album for the first time something heals and patches up inside of me, giving me some kind of life booster.

What's the point atrl is just gonna confuse react to them

But if course these.

(They actually helped me through rough times especially during times when I'm bullied Hyunjin always cheers me because of his positive engery and vocals) And people idk Everytime I listen to it. It really puts me in a good mood

Could really tell I was going through hell last year bc so good ended up being my most played song of all time bc whenever I felt me slipping I'd play that song in the background to calm me down.

In the past it was Allday that saved me a few times and as a teenager it was evermore but now it's them. music (or whoever I Stan at the time) have saved myself many times since I was 13.

i listened to these in 2017 when i really did think about killing myself (not up to it tbh), the only thing is quite straightfwd, to the east is more a song about hoping things will work out even tho you know it's not going to happen, i think about that a lot

in my head is more representative of the thank u next album as a whole which i've been listening to a lot this year, i'm in a real mess and i like the kind of bleak melancholy of it all

yeule is a bit more on the nose i guess but i like the bursts of joy in it that feed out of her misery, this is a great song

$uicideboy$ entire discography. I really don't want to say 'saved my life' but I was going through the worst time of my life and their music really helped me. This was over two years ago and they're still the main artist I listen to.
