No it wasn't : it benefited from DWAS' popularity but Abra is objectively a fantastic song and we all supported it as Gaga's music had been very disappointing for non fans post-BTW. I am happy for her that she got a hit with this song and I hope she can deliver more great songs in the future.

In the past years if you analyze her career, she's always had something to rely on to build momentum.

With Chromatica, it was ASIB giving her momentum, even then, she flopped with Stupid Love, but she had traction on the first week.
Then DWAS definitely gave her massive exposure to launch Mayhem... Although Disease still flopped.

Her capacity to make hits is very fragile. It's always about the right circumstances.

You sort of described how it's like for most female pop stars after their first big peak. The only exception is Taylor.

The real answer to your question is that threads like this are made every time she gets a hit, so that would tell you they are not flukes. It's increasingly challenging for pop stars around 40+ to resonate with Gen Z and Gen Alpha, who are the most active on streaming platforms. Yes, the music should at least be good, but that alone doesn't make something a hit.

Rule #1: every time gaga is successful, you must find a way to discredit her.

Rule #2: if the song or the project is made in collaboration with someone, claim that it is not soll!!lo!!

Rule #3: ALWAYS move the goalposts. Ex: If Gaga did in the end made the IFPI lists, rely on the fact that she was only #9 or #10, or that she was not #1

Rule #4: as a last resort, you can always fall back on the "fluke" defense. Gaga is, and always will be, an anomaly, after all

That is factually wrong.

When Rihanna was still active, she was getting multiple top 10 Billboard hits with every album.
Beyoncé achieved a #1 hit with a lame country song Texas Hold 'Em with her last album, mind you it isn't even her usual genre.
Adele will land at #1 whenever she feels like it.
Same with Taylor Swift.

Even with Britney Spears, had 3 top 10 songs on her 7th album Femme Fatale.

Not every pop star, needs the right moment and circumstance to launch a single and provoke interest.
And it seems to be a pattern with Gaga, we need to be honest.
