Witness was released in 2017 and is eligible for Platinum or very close to it in the US, last SPS update had it over 900k.

Smile will also eventually reach this mark, although it will take years,

Drop Dead is doing amazing on streaming and everytime I turn on the radio they are announcing it like it's big pop cultural news.

Kinda glad she went the more pop route and less rock inspired, that sort of leaves the lane wide open for Katy to come and make the defining album for female pop rock in 2026.

Yes, it was at 890k in the fall of 2022 according to Chartdata but Chained To The Rhythm was only at 2.3M

The catalogue streams are in the depths of hell though so it would still be barely over 1M

Oh it won't sell much past 1M domestically, I'm aware of that but still a Platinum album is a Platinum album.

CTTR was only a moderate hit globally so I'm not surprised, still decent numbers though for an underperforming era.

I figure by the end of the 2020's Witness will be 1M+ and Smile has to be over 750k. Those being US only numbers, of course.

Katy Perry sat cross-legged on a velvet couch that had once felt like a throne and now felt like clearance-section nostalgia. The house was quiet in that expensive, echoey way that made silence feel intentional. Daisy wasn't there. Orlando wasn't there. Even the dog, if there still was one, had the decency to be elsewhere.

On the coffee table sat her phone, face-up, as if waiting for something important to happen. It didn't.

A notification popped up anyway.

"New release: Katy Perry - Thinking of The One That Got Away"

She blinked. "Thinking of… what?"

Another one followed.

"New EP: Katy Perry Sings Katy Perry But It's Sadder."

She hadn't recorded either of those.

She picked up the phone slowly, like it might bite her, and stared at it.

She dialed her manager.

It rang longer than it should for someone whose job technically still involved her existence.

"Hey," he answered, already sounding like he was mid-walk, mid-call, mid-life.

"Hi," she said, trying to sound casual, like she wasn't calling from the center of a very plush existential crisis. "Quick question. There are… releases? Happening? Without me?"

"Yeah, yeah," he said. "Catalog stuff. You know how it is."

"I actually don't," she replied. "That's why I'm calling."

A pause. Not a thoughtful one. A buffering one.

"Look, it's all automated now. You sold your music. Listen, I've gotta jump. Big meeting. We'll circle back, okay?"

"We won't," she said quietly, but he had already hung up.

The phone slid from her hand onto the couch.

She stared ahead, at a painting she didn't remember buying. It looked like something abstract. Or maybe it was just unfinished. Hard to tell these days.

Another notification lit up the room.

"Now trending: 10 New Katy Perry Victims come out with Sexual Assault Allegations"

She let out a soft, humorless laugh.

Then she opened the window and looked down into the abyss. The abyss stared back at her. She screamed. Her echo was off-key, like her vocals. A single tear dropped down her face and slid onto her lips.

It was bitter.

The obsession is legit clinical at this point
