Katy smiled politely. "Right."

Across the room, a playlist quietly shifted to early 2000s hits. Neither of them said anything, but they both noticed.

Miley broke the silence. "Still, 2013 was fun."

Katy raised her glass. "To being unforgettable."

They clinked.

For a second, it almost felt true.
