Even though it is not used as a direct slur, such as "negro de mierda" or "negrata", which are very commonly racist slurs in Spanish in practically every Spanish-speaking country, it is incredibly stupid and ignorant to deny the racist connotations associated with how "negro" is mostly used nowadays. You rarely see a white person referring to another person as "blanco", at least from what I can tell as a Black person in a mostly white country.
