Am I still on the website that has this description

A music forum full of Britney, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kesha, and Ciara stans. 90% male, 10% female. Includes Music News, Charts, Videos, Celebria, The Lounge, Your Top Ten, and Games. Great site, but full of useless and annoying stans.

There are literally hundreds of comments mocking, insulting, and bullying Argentinians. More than half of this forum seems to love acting like saints and moral teachers whenever it suits them. gaycat3

after making dismissive comments towards another culture is crazy.

In Argentina, the word negro is generally all the time used in a positive way and has nothing to do with the N-word. Literally explaining that here seems impossible, and it's not even like that in other Latin American countries, where they use other expressions that, combined with another word and context, give it a different charge, but per se it isn't derogatory.

Edit: WAIT and the sig too rip

I was silenced for explaining how the word "negro" functions in Argentine Spanish, emphasizing that its meaning varies based on context and surrounding words.. It was a neutral, cultural explanation, nothing offensive. Given my consistently respectful participation here, I believe this moderation action was a misunderstanding. I respectfully request that the restriction be lifted. Remove this warning.

but why exactly does one country - a much more economically disadvantaged country mind you - get to be piled on and singled out by a user base largely made up of people who are born in countries that were/are far more central in spreading colonialist, Neo colonialist, racist ideas etc than a relative non factor like Argentina ever could? yall are following trends rather than using your brains. and pretending anti Blackness isn't a problem all throughout Latin America (as well as of course, the US/Europe etc), when, the recent situation with the elected Bolivian politician saying horribly racist things about Mbappe makes it clear that it isn't specific to Argentina, right?

There's a way to call out the racist, trying-to-be-European culture of a nation without saying, "this nation is equivalent to a nation that's doing literal genocide." Yall genuinely sound stupid and bigoted. And as i've said, if you're not from LatAm yourself, you have no right to sit here talking crazy about Argentina

That politician was from Paraguay, not Bolivia.

And why does someone need to be from the region to call out racism? skull Does that mean Latinos shouldn’t be able to say anything about the US, Europe, Asia, etc?

Edit: WAIT and the sig too

something being commonly acceptable in a country doesn't make it any less of a slur when they still sometimes use it as one. it's like when non-black americans try to say THAT word with an -a "because that's my friend." sister... that's still not our thing to reclaim and throw around!

also isn't it against forum rules to post/discuss restrictions/warnings (same applies to put on avatar/signature)? I thought mods/admins had to be DMed/emailed to resolve whatever issue.

Even though it is not used as a direct slur, such as "negro de mierda" or "negrata", which are very commonly racist slurs in Spanish in practically every Spanish-speaking country, it is incredibly stupid and ignorant to deny the racist connotations associated with how "negro" is mostly used nowadays. You rarely see a white person referring to another person as "blanco", at least from what I can tell as a Black person in a mostly white country. rip
