It's a very American thing to do. Any time a white person celebrates any culture, it's immediately deemed appropriation or out-of-place. When I began traveling all over the world for work, I learned how uniquely American this fixation is — Since I'd be in South Africa or the Philippines, and people would ask me to wear something or dance to music, and when I'd decline out of respect to not appropriate, they never understood what I meant. Just like you're saying here, they'd say it's about celebrating diversity and different cultures.

These days I only replay LoveDrug, Garden of Smashery, Vanish Into GodGa, and The Debra. That's all.

I used to really obsess with HBDYWM but because it has 1989 Taylor Swift inspired elements and because Gaga was scared it was too pop, so I really appreciated it. I love everything about her, what she's scared of, I uphold it and cherish it but I don't see myself often play the song. If I want to play it, why don't I play the whole 1989 album. Right?
