This is part 2 of the Lady Gaga discussion.

that post was unhinged but yesterday I was kinda thinking that disease doesn't make sense. The lyrics are probably going over my head. What exactly is the narrator trying to say? On the surface it seems to be identical to The Cure - a lover (Gaga) being an antidote to pain/disease. But the song is about Gaga's demons, no? Is she singing to her demons, i.e. she is saying she can cure them (or cure herself)? Or are her demons singing to her - but aren't her demons the disease itself? So are her demons saying they can cure themselves?

I know this conversation is 1.5 years too late, but I'd love to know your takes/interpretations. I can't make sense of it.

think of it as the drug singing to the addict

2000s Albums With Most 1b+ Songs

Graduation: 3

Stronger - 1.73b

Flashing Lights - 1.63b

I Wonder - 1.06b

~Homecoming - 997m

The Eminem Show: 3

Without Me - 2.95b

Till I Collapse - 2.41b

Superman - 1.31b

Good Girl Gone Bad: 3

Umbrella - 2.12b

Don't Stop The Music - 1.56b

Disturbia - 1.01b

Get Rich Or Die Tryin': 2

In Da Club - 2.03b

P.I.M.P. - 1.06b

~21 Questions - 985m

Loose: 2

Promiscuous - 1.82b

Maneater - 1.14b

~Say It Right - 982m

The Fame: 2

Poker Face - 2.03b

Just Dance - 1.66b

~Paparazzi - 972m

So The Fame will be the 6th 2000s album to have 3 songs cross 1b+.

However, if combined with TFM, it already holds the record. Graduation will tie it briefly, and she'll extend it to 5 once Paparazzi hits the mark.

The Fame Monster: 4

Poker Face - 2.03b

Bad Romance - 1.78b

Just Dance - 1.66b

Telephone - 1.05b

~Paparazzi - 972m

Then that's what we're gonna do

No more compression?

No. I disagree. A lot of us love her pop oontz oontz poppers induced music than AC ballads or jazz.

We don't care much about charts tbh. Of course some really are obsessed with it but her streaming power is improved a lot lately, so she's gonna be fine.

Take an example of Abracadabra, its streaming statistics are still good. That's all.

We grow up with darkpop dancepop Ga, so idc if how many times she's reheating her nachos. She's very much confident to go back to her roots than she did in early days of her career

Just compression done right, without crushing her vocals flat and sucking the dynamics out the production, like most of Mayhem and Chromatica, even a lot of Born This Way. She just can't seem to make dance music like her debut album for some reason. Yeah Abracadabra has been stable, but still falling below her early dance classics. So it's for the best she goes the Adele-esque ballad route, the GP would eat it up. She is entering her 40's anyway, so being a pop star will bring more challenges. All she needs is her voice on its own now!

Not you calling her old and expired doc

Maybe it's because of your ears. I feel she's doing fine.

Sometimes I do wonder if I'm annoying in here in the same moment Miss Maxine always come along to talk about compression and makes me feel better about myself heart

Stop talking about compression, my brain is getting fried now.

The way she screams "GRAMMYS PUT YOUR PAWS UP" will forever scratch my brain jonny

They are getting compressed

Gaga's MV views released this decade:

Die With A Smile: 1.541B
Rain On Me: 452M
Hold My Hand: 320M
Abracadabra: 227M
Stupid Love: 167M
911: 93M
The Dead Dance: 62M
Disease: 51M

Given that YouTube is pretty much dead, this is actually great, for comparison: Taylor has no music videos above 300M views, Katy has none above 200M and Bey has none above 100M.

Waie up honey new Gaga daughter just dropped suburban

Wait it's actually so good

Even though Madge and Grace Jones treated Gar so badly in her early days, other legends, such as Elton John and Tony picked her up so I don't really support the whole "She was unloved by her icons" narrative
