editing bc you deserve a better explanation for my pick. Obviously I think Abra is an exceptionally written song. However Benito had a HUGE year with his best album so far (imo) that deserves GF recognition. The reason why I'd go for him in SOTY is bc AOTY/ROTY are more important, hence why I'd vote for Gar there. But also bc the fact that DTMF (an all Spanish language song) became so prolific that everyone knows & can sing along to the lyrics even if they don't speak the language. That was always really special to me, seeing how its universal message & feeling resonated across language barriers. That's why I'd give it SOTY, not to spite Gar, but to celebrate Benito's biggest sonic achievement which resonated in a very special way with US (and global) audiences.

Gaga's strongest Grammy nominated work is obviously Abracadabra. The reason why I'm predicting MAYHEM to win AOTY tho (and not Abra for ROTY) is for a few reasons.

1. AOTY vote splitting. Kendrick almost has zero chance of winning because of it. The bimbo never had a chance to begin with. Gaga is the most likely artist to coalesce support from a plurality of genres (pop, rock, jazz, dance). Also don't think Benito is as strong as people think he is here. Yes everyone's creaming at the thought of a politically charged win but let's be real, the situation was not as potent during voting. I also don't think an all Spanish language album will resonate with the (silent) majority of the voting body. This is Gaga's to lose imo.

2. ROTY vote splitting. Except this time it works against Gaga, as she has many pop-leaning competitors to beat whereas luther is by far & away the favorite for rap/R&B showing. No, I don't think Doechii is really win competitive here either however she could siphon enough votes away from Kendrick for Gaga to spoil.

3. Luther is essentially the text book definition of an ROTY winner. #1 smash, critically acclaimed, bonus for being a collab between 2 Grammy darlings. Unfortunately, Abra just doesnt have as much as Luther does on paper. Anyone with a brain would say Abra is & feels more impactful than luther but the Grammys don't have a history of picking arts over charts in this category when it comes down to it & I don't think Gaga's win here is as easy as AOTY should be.

All of this to say I'm happy to be proven wrong. I lowkey want Abra to win ROTY more than MAYHEM to win AOTY (this is kind of a lie, I really want both). Abracadabra would instantly become the most SINGULAR ROTY winner of all time & the Grammy's most inspired ROTY pick since Beat It in 1984, like deadass

I really want to believe she knows she's winning something big and that's why she's moving hell and earth to make a performance happen despite her incredible schedule. But I think I'm just being optimistic lol. It just feels weird to make this all happen for, like, Best Dance Recording lol.

Watching some videos from Tokyo — It's awesome to see how much fun she's having with this tour. It's clear the approach of having a series of dates in cities rather than jumping between a ton with only 1-2 each is a lot easier for her.

Y'all better start praying no one dies between now and Sunday bc you know how she is.

I hope her attendance + performance are not in the same situation as when she did a last-minute performance for the Oscars in 2023.

Even her red carpet look was basically taken from a recent Versace Fall 2023 collection, which also showed in L.A. at that time.

Flying from across the Pacific with a day and a half to prepare everything is logistically nerve-racking. I think her attendance this time is partially planned, and they probably wrapped up her confirmation around November.

They need to go All-in with her Red Carpet look. This is a momentous day for her because she has strong chances to get AOTY, SOTY, ROTY & BPVA.

Taking off the rack from a runway look is not sufficient. A custom couture look is needed here.

I'm predicting she might wear something colourful. A pivot from her last Grammy looks which is all black.
