It's well documented she was going for a "safe" pop TFM-esque musical direction after ARTPOP and then she scrapped all the material from those sessions even though they might have not amounted to a full album. I think she did acknowledge it during one of her "dark arts" PR responses during this era.

Fun Tonight or Free Woman (demo version) should have been Chromatica's lead single. Stupid Love just screamed 'bland pop return'. Even 911 would have done well as a lead single

But I think most fans acknowledge that it wasn't a complete album or anything, just a bunch of tracks she worked on (some with RedOne) but didn't use in the end, minus Angel Down. I would like to hear those demos though!

Chromatica doesn't have many hits in hindsight. Rain On Me lead, Alice or 911 as promo tracks, and then toss on Babylon or Free Woman as a tour single.

Granted, she did 911 as a promo track and ROM as the second lead, so she wasn't far off.

Album is still a gem tho

MANiCURE should have been a single. Such an underrated bop

Maybe ARTPOP is one of her best albums

I was being earnest. But sometimes they have singles planned even when still at the demo stage. Some could be great (see the rumors surrounding Frankenstein, which I'm assuming was the lead RedOne was talking about), while others, not so much (see Stupid Love).

Even if I weren't a Jazz fan I'd still think how iconic it is she's actually building a jazz discography. You can tell she's actually invested in the genre and it was never just a one or two time thing because of Tony.

I'd love an original jazz album from her. I know Happy Mistake isn't a jazz song but it's the closest we got to original "jazz era" material and I'd love to see what she has in her outside of the pop genre. Jazz is pretty diverse and goes much further than the covers we've largely heard from her.
