Lyrics are whatever; And yes the production is a choice but the most offending aspect about it is the melody.

Lady Gaga for me is unbeatable in the melody department amongst the mainstream artists, she owns that game like nobody's business; But on top of basic production and lyricism (along with that ugly tone technique), she chose the most generic and bland melody and that is simply unacceptable. I even heard an Addyson song using the same melody and that adds on my disdain to that piece of crap of a song

to be fair she only write like 3 words in Perfect Illusion

Blade of Grass is the only track on Mayhem that's a skip for me. I get that it's an important personal song to Gaga but I don't revisit it often.

I feel like BoG has a longer duration maybe something like 10 mins and they have to cut it short, the verses are too short and felt like parts are missing:

Verse I: Lovers kiss in a garden made of thorns/Traces of lonely words, illusions torn

Verse II: This is the lawn of memories I mourn/I fall into your eyes, shelter from storm

Relistening to Harlequin and it's even better than I remember. Hope it gets some recognition at the Grammy's and Mayhem doesn't steal all the glory.
