Will Opalite be bigger than TFOO?

Featured Replies

No. Ophelia is a massive smash globally (especially in Europe).

Opalite is a big hit too

initially I thought so but Ophelia is basically starting to stabilize at 7M daily streams which is just insane. I dont think Opalite will be able to blow up like that or to have better longevity. It will still be huge tho and likely go #1 if radio supports it and she does something nice with the MV in January or whatever.

honestly? i could see that happening. but it'll require promo which we know she won't do.

I could definitely see it happening tbh, it's even catchier than The Fate of Ophelia so :giraffe:

HOWEVER Style was also catchier than Blank Space and it wasn't as big of a hit… hmm. but yeah if she plays her cards right it could absolutely overtake The Fate of Ophelia. I'm hoping for a really amazing single campaign including a music video as good or almost as good as TFoO's :giraffe:

If the Chiefs win the Super Bowl and somehow Travis becomes MVP, then yes! :gaycat1:

in seriousness, it has a chance. It's sticking around the top ten while TFOO is still #1. That's a good sign.

It would be so hard for a post release single to do better

Love to be proven wrong though. The song is such a GP friendly song and it`s also so good, the bridge is just Taylor hugging the fans, get me through some of my downmood day.

No -it's already dropping compared to TFOO which is stable

It's no Sorry-Love Yourself situation I fear

now where exactly is it "dropping"? it's been top 5 on the hot 100 since it debuted, still doing 4.5m on spotify and rising on radio, still #3 on apple music 5 weeks after release…

Style was hammered by multiple things. First, her lack of promo (outside of the 2014 VSFS it was seen nowhere), she pushed it as a third single when Shake it Off and Blank Space were absolutely destroying digital and radio. If Taylor does promo for it and gives us a banger video I don't doubt it'd smash too, but we need radio to be fully onboard too with them. Give her all the payola!

In the streaming era, it is extremely rare for a second, post-album release single to do better than the lead.  It is nearly impossible when the lead single is a multi-week number one hit across the world.

That said, Opalite may very well be the 3rd biggest female hit from 2025 after golden and Ophelia.

Opalite is performing better for not being a single, BUT I like the song  "Elizabeth Taylor" more than Opalite.

uptown funk, thinking out loud, sugar, and take me to church were also smashing at the same time. Style put up a good fight but the stars aligned against it tbh. It's recurring stats suggest that it would have smashed harder had the competition not been as insane

Yes, it will be her first double digit #1 hit in the US. :ducky:

Spoiler

With perfect timing and promotion.

I doubt it. I don't believe in post album hits for established artists.

It had the potential to be if it were a pre released single or if it was the one pushed instead

No. It's dying with the album's hype, while Ophelia remains a stable smash as deserved.

good luck regaining that buzz it's losing now.
