Is Rebel Heart Underrated?

Featured Replies

I put it on yesterday and honestly there isn't a song that is out of place, I love her exploration of folktronica and each song has a message. It's a really good listening experience and I love how many sounds are present on the record.

  • It's her second best album post ROL. Many great songs. Would have been much bigger if it and MDNA swapped places and it got the Superbowl performance and comeback hype.

  • Definitely no. Vocal production is absolute trash and the production aged like milk. Good start but she chose some of the worst versions of the songs.   Madame X is underrated as hell tho.

the Wash All Over Me demo absolutely stomps, and Two Steps Behind Me :jonnycat:

ultimately its biggest hindrance is that the demos were better than the final product.. but it's still a solid album

I remember listening to the demo version of Rebel Heart (Song) and loved loved LOVED it. I was let down when I heard the final version. That kinda ruined my experience with the album. But it's overall okay and far from bad

No, Rebel Heart had so many skips. Unapolgetic ***** and ***** I'm Madonna are great, though

Madame X is underrated

Hell no!!! Madonna's most bloated album!

I always thought Filler Heart would be much better off as an EP. Keep Ghosttown, Unapologetic *****, Joan of Arc, Body Shop, Messiah, Rebel Heart, and hell, tack on AutoTune Baby, and scrap the rest.

It's really an unlistenable mess. I love Madonna to death but I have no idea what she was thinking putting together such a soulless inflated album :rip:

I usually like your takes, but this is insulting to the 3 albums that followed ROL, especially to Music

It's her worst album and has her worst song Hold Tight (or smth like that)

No, Rebel Heart is one of the worst albums I've ever listened to

:suburban:

No, it should be rated even lower.

Awful from beginning to end but Ghosttown is okay I guess. :biblionana:

I never cared for Music outside of the title track, which doesn't even touch my top 30 Madonna songs. American Life has Nothing Fails, which is probably my favorite of her 21st century material excluding COADF, and the title track is fun camp but the rest… and of course I was referring to COADF as her best work of the century, with RH second behind it.

No, something is really off putting about this album tbh

How can you say this when Madame X falls under more of this criteria :deadbanana4:

Eh. Music is literally her most perfect album without any weak points. What do you listen to music with?

Usually my ears.

It's very underrated. Rebel Heart is her best work from the 2010's by far.

She was very passionate about the album and it shows throughout most of the songs. It feels like a genuine Madonna album rather than Madonna chasing trends (MDNA/Hard Candy).

The vocal production on this album is also eons better than on MDNA and Madame X.

It does suffer from being bloated though, and a horrible track order. Had she replaced Illuminati and Body Shop with the title track and Messiah, cut all other deluxe tracks and rearranged the tracklist a bit better it would be a top 5 Madonna album.
