No. My skin is literally the same shade as a sheet of paper and I'm in a committed relationship with my sunscreen. :mayhem:

when i was younger i used to get really tan. not that i tried but i just spent more time outdoors lol

these days i wear sunscreen, hats, and long sleeved tshirts; all to avoid sun damage (ie tanning)

I'm outside a lot anyway so I'm already tan. I've only done it consciously a few times on vacation but if I'm at the beach I'm usually in the water or playing volleyball so it just happens naturally. The act of laying down is really boring for me

I'm POC so I already have that glowing golden tan skin :bird:

Well I'm black so I don't have to and thank god for that because I have very sensitive skin and get sunburned easily. I can't stay in the sun longer than 20-25 minutes without getting burned even with sunscreen.

I live in the desert, so nope. I only need to go out for groceries for that to happen

:clack:

I prefer to age very well so willingly burning my skin is no longer a behavior I care to engage in

No, I tried sometimes but I always get only very sunburned and red like a lobster.

Sometimes I think of trying artificial tanning... maybe it'll work with me, who knows.

I did but many people Said that it doesn't Look good so I stopped and I don't want skin cancer.

I don't purposely go out of my way to do it but I do tan really good. It never peels off, slowly fades and I can count on one hand the amount of times in my life that I got sunburned.

Don't want to risk skin cancer and don't want my skin to look bad in my 30s.

However, my vitamin D levels can get extremely low. Back in 2018 my vitamin D levels were 300% lower than what it should be. My health was horrible in so many ways so be super careful if you purposely try to avoid the sun. I'm still on a heavy prescription of vitamin D just to stay in the bare minimum.

is taking vitamin d supplements the same as exposing yourself to the sun? were you able to get your vitamin d levels to a healthy amount? or did u also need to get some sun to get everything back in order?

i think the sun can be good for your health... i think it's just about being conscious... exposing yourself to the sun for 10-15 minutes in the early morning sounds like a great idea... however, exposing yourself to the sun for 10-15 minutes during peak hours sounds like a bad idea..

Used to tan (both fake and real) cause I was self-conscious of my paleness and worried about certain colors washing me out but now idgaf :alexz3:

Apparently I don't absorb vitamin D well so for me it's an additional way to get vitamin D. It's still good to get it from the sun as well because our bodies naturally produce vitamin D from the sun and supplements alone cannot maintain this system active, only give it more "fuel" to run.

Sunrise and sunset are best because the UV ray levels are at their lowest

Sun exposure is good for the eyes as well. There's not enough talk about the long-term impact that lack of outdoor time in the sun has on our eyesight. Could lead to early blindness.

i try to avoid tanning because it's not the beauty standard where i'm from

I like the beach but I burn easy so I stay shaded and use lots of sunscreen

I avoid direct sunlight at all costs.  Love being outdoors though, just always in the shade.

No, only when I go to the beach.

I find tanning disgusting.

No and I've had 365 sunscreen for years now, basically since my very early 20s. When i'm on vacation it's SPF 50+ depending on the day. I take vitamin D supplements.

Tanning on purpose (on the beach or in a machine) is a very modern idea and not an healthy one.

I personally don't find any enjoyment or purpose to do that.

BUT people should also stop thinking "omg you are pale so you look unhealthy" that is also a very toxic statement.
