going to concerts solo?

Featured Replies

Have ya'll gone to any concerts alone? What was the experience like? Any tips?

Lorde is coming to my city and I'm debating going alone and getting GA tickets cuz I just wanna dance around people who know and love the music like I do. I went to Ethel with a friend who very casually listens to her and I would've preferred to just go alone, the vibe was meh.

I've done this several times, and this is what it always ends up looking like (me, being the guy in the back)

  • You should definitely go alone. There's nothing worse than going with a friend who doesn't match your vibe.

You'll make friends with the people around you, just go in with the intention of having a good time. There's no need to be self-conscious or feel any type of way. I've done that a couple of times, because what I'm not going to do is be dependent on someone for me to live and have life experiences. If I want to go, I'm going to go. And that's because a lot of the concerts I have gone to I found about at the last minute, like days before.

I went to see Halsey by myself and made friends there, on the line. And the show was so much fun

Don't stop yourself from living special moments bc of that, just go

Going to a very small theater alone is perfect & since it's Lorde that's exactly where your going the vibe is so much fun:heart2:

If it's an Arena i don't recommend going to that alone that's ackward & not as fun alone.

I love going to local concerts and shows solo. Not a big fan of traveling alone, though

I love going alone! It's nice to have the freedom to choose how to get there, when/where to eat, etc. I advise getting early so you can get settled in before the crowds arrive though.

yeah i've done this! it's totally fine, just chat with people around you, decent chance you have shared interests. plus once the show starts, it doesn't matter who you're with!

I'd never been to a concert alone until a couple of weeks ago. It was a little bit awkward at first but once they started performing it was fine. Plus I saw loads of other people who were there by themselves which made me feel better. I'm going to a couple of other ones solo this year. I've missed seeing artists before because I couldn't find someone to go with, I'm not going to do that again.

Yes it's a venue of like 8,500 people so it'll be perfect in the pit. Yay I'm so excitedddd

it's fun. idk why people think it's awkward. Getting drunk and making friends >

I've done this plenty of times, when the pop girls come around I don't mind spending hundreds of dollars on the good seats but my friends (who are mainly straight) would never. Just drink enough (if you do drink) to let loose and have fun and not be so self-conscious.

Out of the 5 I've been to, 4 were alone. I also didn't have a car until the 5th one, so my experience was always:

• Book a hotel as close to forum as possible (only ever been to concerts in L.A.).

• On the day of the concert, take a three-hour bus ride to L.A. Check into hotel, get settled in, leave out for fast food and whatever essentials I need, and then chill in my room until it's time to get ready.

• Catch bus or Uber to forum. Get checked in, buy merch/drinks/snacks until go-time.

• Return to hotel and leave the following morning.

For the 5th concert, I drove my friend and I to L.A. We bought merch and food and took pics until it was time to go inside the theater.

Anytime I've ever gone to a concert alone, I've never really felt awkward because I know everyone will be caught up in the excitement of being there rather than paying attention to the lone concert goer. Only time I've ever been approached was when people would compliment my outfits.

I have. I admit I was very scared and I literally almost got back in my car and left because I had so much anxiety that I was going to be judged. It was a little uncomfortable at first before the show actually started but once it started it was fine.

I realized I actually preferred to go solo because I can soak everything in. Some people love to jump up and down and scream their lungs out, but I prefer to just soak the entire experience in and focus on the performer, which most of my friends find lame lol.

Don't overthink it :heart2: it might be awkward at first but if you allow yourself to relax you'll have the most amazing time of your life.

Sooo many. It's actually great because you have a better shot at getting closer to the stage if you want and it's easier to move around/get merch/use the bathroom. I've met friends at concerts too.

I saw Dua in Paris by myself and I had an actual seat. The vibe was kind of awkward because it was older people and children who had seats around me, but once the concert started I didn't pay attention to them and enjoyed the show

I'm really tempted to go see Dua again on her US leg by myself but this time in the GA floor section

I've gone to a few alone and I had a great time! At some shows, I didn't even talk with anyone, and I was able to just take in the sounds and vibes before the show started, and it was peaceful tbh. Also, there was a time I was in the front row and the people next to me offered to hold my spot so I could go get merch and use the restroom. Hope you have fun if you go!

Going with friends is great, but going alone is way easier. It'll feel a little uncomfortable at first, but if you're focused on the music/performance you'll be fine. Plenty of people do this all the time.

My first-ever show was Coldplay in Curitiba alone. Absolutely no regrets!

I saw Madonna because my boyfriend at the time did not want to see her, but he bought me the ticket for my birthday. I had a lot of fun and felt like I could less loose without worrying about if the other person was having a good time.

I also saw Bruce Springsteen alone and made buddies with the people surrounding me :flower: I followed her instagram on for awhile. It's a fun way to be friends with someone. That concert was 3 hours long and I'm glad I didn't have someone tagging along with me having to go to the bathroom all the time and complaining about standing for so long

I would recommend it the experience of going alone. If you are nervous, try going to a movie by yourself to see if you like that

I'm tempted to get tix to see Noah Cyrus on my own tbh

of course you can go alone! you're gonna be watching the show anyway. it's no different than going to the movies alone.

i go to concerts solo all the time because often i want more expensive seats than my friends do. and it certainly didn't matter to me as soon as beyoncé came down that runway and looked me in the eye lol

I must have been on +30 shows and only one I had someone with me. Just enjoy it, no one will pay attention/judge you and you'll still have a blast
