Lorde - 'Virgin'

Featured Replies

I'm so late but I finally listened to the album this weekend and Current Affairs has me in a chokehold. The chorus melody is so so beautiful and has engraved itself into my brain playing nonstop. I love it so much, probably my favourite Lorde song ever.

I also listened to it on the way home from meeting a guy for the first time (and he was amazing) and now I can't stop thinking about him and associating the song with him too ufhfjfjf

ijbol remember when Solar Power had no CD bc of her climate activism - she said F the planet for this album, we cheered!

  • new track in 3 days.

  • I believe Melodrama remains her magnum opus, but Virgin sounds absolutely incredible. It's the Lorde we know, yet it also feels incredibly refreshing. In Hammer, she mentioned, "I might be born again,

Everyone says thank you, SOLAR POWER:clap3::clap3:

UGH THANK YOU SUPER POWER

As a fan of Melodrama, this album isn't quite clicking for me. I'm not hearing any great melodies....it's like I can listen to these songs and forget how they go right after. Maybe it'll grow on me, but as of now, this is unfortunately a disappointment.

Current Affairs and Broken Glass are the standouts.

She must be so tired of everyone bringing everything she does - past, present and future - back to Melodrama. I certainly am.

I agree honestly. Like nothing before or after changes what Melodrama is. Yes everyone thinks they want the same thing again but really they don't. Like "Abracadabra" is a great TFM/BTW 2.0 from Gaga and we all loved it but it was also kind of weird to see her re-tread familiar territory, and I think people would feel the same from Lorde. We'd probably enjoy it but it would still feel inferior to, or not the same as, Melodrama. Let's just let artists pursue what they need to express, not try to pursue what they think we want from them. That never ends well.

Honestly I'm on the outside looking in when it comes to Melodrama. I like about 4 songs and the rest I can go without. Its my least favorite project of hers.

Today I listened to GRWM and cried:weeps: When the lyrics just HITS:weeps:

Anyone knows why Genius has Virgin track listing as Virgin (Deluxe)* with a bunch of unreleased songs? :rip:

I was looking up something and noticed that, but I think it's just someone listing some of the rumoured tracks? Not sure what's happening with those, maybe wishful thinking on someone's part?

she posted the progress board of the album on release day and it had those 3 additional titles (River/Magnetic/Trying), then later on she once again mentioned "B-Sides" in an another post

so they're probably (& hopefully) coming in future

The worst take I've seen so far LMAO

For me - the album hits a stride as its ending - i wish a couple more hooks were more immediate (like Melodrama songs) but overall a good effort. For me its probably a 6.5 or 7/10 whereas melodrama wouldve been like a 9/10

@SUNSET BLVD what's your problem :lmao:

The album is low-key ass.

also, all my IRL friends are feeling the same way. Critics love this more than the average listener.

The production and melody are so dated and not intentionally.

Lorde was never meant for average listeners anyways
