  • new track in 3 days.

  • I believe Melodrama remains her magnum opus, but Virgin sounds absolutely incredible. It's the Lorde we know, yet it also feels incredibly refreshing. In Hammer, she mentioned, "I might be born again,

I'm sure it will!

In the meantime Solar Power is back as one of my go-to albums on a daily basis so the LORDE still won in the end. :jonnycat:

grwm is high art!! we all need to direct our hate towards if she could see me now

I still would love Shapeshifter or FD to go viral on TikTok. I don't see radio touching anything this era unfortunately

Towards Boring Affairs*

Some Art/Movie references in Virgin:

Hammer
"Postcard from the edge" possibly a reference to Carrie Fisher's 1987 novel, Postcards from the Edge.

Man of The Year
"You met me at a really strange time in my life" appears to be a quote from the 1999 David Fincher film "Fight Club".

Current Affairs
The Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee sex tape. :rip:

Shapeshifter
"I'll let down my braids and you'll climb up" appears to be a reference to the story of Rapunzel.

"Everyone that I've slept with", also from Shapeshifter, is a reference to an artwork by Tracey Emin, a tent that contained the names of everyone she had ever slept with, but not necessarily had sex with.

Quote

In a 2004 interview,[5] Emin discussed her intent, stating it was about "abortion, rape, teenage sex, abuse and poverty". Emin shared her belief that people walked into the tent expecting to learn about her sexual partners but left thinking about "who they've slept with, who they've been intimate with, who they've loved, who's hurt them, who abused them, who raped them."

I've probably missed a few. Most likely some from the books that she posted on her instagram, but I haven't read.

Does anyone know some others that I've missed?

"Pure Heroine mistaken for featherweight" is a direct reference to "Pure Heroine", a 2013 poetry collection by then teenage author, Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor

I feel like this album really hints at the magic I imagine happening if she ever ended up collaborating with Fred Again..

She did a Disclosure collab when they had all the hype. Do it again queen and serve us a dance masterpiece :jonny:

Wait, I need this. Fred again.. is good at making sad dance bangers. Not sure why Lorde or Tove Lo haven't collabed with him yet. They would definitely find some magic in the process.

I'm certain he must have had collab offers from people right? He's arguably the biggest EDM producer in the world right now.

I feel like Lorde would be a good fit for him but perhaps he doesn't want any big names on his tracks.
