Until something new is announced, I'll keep fantasizing about "Ruin the Friendship" being the final single for the The Life of a Showgirl anniversary in October, along with signed CDs, and since I'm feeling optimistic, I hope we get a performance from this era at the VMAs, maybe a medley to pay a little tribute if this is indeed the end of the era...

Why would she or her team deal with subs/posts that are either irrelevant, incorrect, intentionally in bad faith or all that combined?

Besides, it is still traction that only makes her more relevant in the end.

More than anything, she's smart enough to know she is way way way too big to control what's happening on the internet. Close those subs and they are just gonna migrate somewhere else and become even worse because they'll feel like they're being censored.

Exactly, she is way beyond shutting off any section that would exist anyway. And that amounts to virtually nothing.

People had been feral and going nuclear about her since 2010 and definitely even before that.

I am being 100% serious when I say some users on here should consider processional help regarding how they feel about a pop star who is literally no better or worse morally than any of the other fabulously wealthy pop stars they worship.

Honestly, their terminally obsessive fixations are just reinforcement of her unique status in the industry. The bigger the star the bigger the target, as they say - although I think that's originally a Michael Jackson quote so maybe I don't want to associate her with that, but still redface

It's just so weird to watch them slowly convince themselves that she's over as if she's not still the biggest artist in the world and won't be remembered as likely the biggest music artist in American history and one of the biggest globally. Like, how do you get that detached from the real world, real people, real life?

But at this point, that's none of my business and I don't want it to be my business.

Don't know what it is about Midnights today but the album is album-ing jonny

I had a moment with Midnights last night jonny2 Something about the transition into September made it feel right.

For me, Midnights is lowkey reputations sister. Not in a similar way of folklore & evermore. As in how they are both sort of the black sheep of her catalogue, sonically. There's nothing that similar to either of them as a whole. So I group them together as the 2 outcasts

They're both pop albums with relatively unique but very cohesive & precise sonic palettes in Taylor's discography. Both received mixed reactions upon release, but no SUPER strong feelings toward it being either her best or her worst. Just .. middling. But both aged really well & are super immersive & rewarding worlds to dive into, especially for new listeners to Taylor as an artist that aren't expecting the electric nature of reputation or the mesmerizing melancholy of Midnights.

Speaking of melted OTH brains...

I love that IKI,IKY is such a smash in the US and how much it's killing them. In 20 years, literally no one will care where the song was charting on Spotify on its 100th day of release. Just like no one IRL cares now! The song is widely known, associated with a beloved franchise, and well received.

It doesn't exploit any streaming trick that every single country song in the US isn't already exploiting. It has a nearly identical ratio of its streams coming from outside Spotify as Boston and several Morgan Wallen songs. The song spent ~8 weeks in the top 10 of the streaming chart and is still 18 months after release with two Dolly songs currently ahead of it.

The song also debuted at number 1 without any additional versions and had a 100 point lead!

Mariah begged, borrowed, and stole her way to her number 1s record and you don't even see people on fan forums like this pointing that out 20 years later.

Oh, I Smashed It, I Slew You! The meltdowns over the incoming Grammy (and possibly Oscar hi hi) will be delicious!

Genuinely the only thing I'm mad about with IKIIKY is that I want her to do more to lock in that #1 on Billboard's country airplay chart too, not just Mediabase - I didn't wait thirteen years for this moment just for it to not make it all the way! Literally bribe them girl, I don't even care!

What do you mean bribing? Let's threaten them!

Jokes aside, I think it'll get to #1 anyway. The song is blowing up and she has yet to do that interview with iHeart Country Radio which I guess is gonna keep her momentum going (especially after she announces Debut TV).

The song should get a decent boost on Spotify once the movie drops on Disney + on the 23rd either way.

I Knew It, I Knew You = 13 weeks top 3

Million Reasons + Stupid Love + Rain On Me + Shallow + Rain On Me = 13 weeks top 10

No wonder the 2nd fanbase is fuming!

zendaya

I just added the TOTC units and IKI,IKY is currently at 1.722 million in the US. It should cross double platinum in ~4 weeks. Less than four months.

Abracadabra took about 11 months. Need y'all to start standing on business for the good sis!

Hopefully Disney is quick about certifying…I'd give anything for Taylor to give af about certifying her singles. The way she'd immediately become the best selling artist in history. rip
